Well, in the UK our law tells us that I, IV, V and VI are perfectly fine for all ages.

II is a PG. Some scenes may be unsuitable for younger children, parental descretion is advised.

And III should only be watched by children of the age of 12 and older

What the heck are you guys doing posting so much? Not watching the movies?

So started at 9 am and I did a good run on the special features, there is quite a lot to see. I took a small break about 50 minutes ago and went for a walk and just got back in. It's now time for the movies. Like I said before, I will start with A New Hope since I am really curious to see it first and slowly make my way down the series.

I hope everyone is having as much fun as I am?
I got the set in my hands Pat . I'll start with TPM in fifteen minutes.

I like ANH well enough. It's just a very slow and tedious film to sit though after decades of multiple viewings.

It's also the only Star Wars film which will literally put me to sleep if I'm the slightest bit tired.

I appreciate the fact that the film kicked off the Star Wars Saga and the Franchise. It's just a very slow boil.
The SE and the later DVD and BLU changes and tweaks have made it a much more enjoyable film though.

Since they addressed some of the points of the film that have bugged me from the start. Like Mos Eisley.

'Should we start this sequence with an over-the-shoulder shot of Harrison Ford getting off the ship?' 'Would it be OK to reveal a certain story point in the Jedi trailer?'

It's worth posting again, but extremely unlikely that he'll ever use anyone associated with the DGA or WGA again, unless they came crawling and begging him:

"The Hollywood unions have been taken over by the same lawyers and accountants who took over the studios," Lucas says angrily. "When the Writers Guild was on strike, I couldn't cross the picket line in my function as a director in order to take care of American Graffiti when the studio was chopping it up. I quit the Director's Guild because the union lawyers were locked in a traditional combat with the studio lawyers. The union doesn't care about it's members. It cares about making fancy rules that sound good on paper and are totaly impractical. They said Lucasfilm was a personal credit, not a corporate credit. My name is not George Lucasfilm any more than William Fox's name was Twentieth Century-Fox. On that technicality, they sued me for $250,000. You can pollute half the Great Lakes and not get fined that much. When the DGA threatened to fine Kershner $25,000, we paid his fine. I consider it extortion. The day after I settled with the Director's Guild, the Writers Guild called up. At least their fine didn't go all into the business agents' pockets. Two-thirds went to writers."

http://books.google.com/books?id=P2P7pwHeZSkC&pg=PA139
That last quote is gold. Should remind anybody why labor unions are criminal organizations. If an individual did what union leaders/bosses do, they'd be in jail for extortion (union dues) or worse. Protection, my ass...

If I'd ever be asked to join a union to get a job, I'd do a Luke Skywalker on them...."I'll never join you!!!!!!!"

Take Bay and keep him, if that's your cup of tea. I'll stick with Lucas, Spielberg, and Zemeckis.

I have no complaints about PQ i am watching on a 52 xbr and am loving them. Now I guess if i was watching on a projector with a large screen it might be a different story. I never thought the ot could look this good. I know what people are saying about using a 4k or8k transfer The sound of music its a thing of beauty. Till then i guess these will have to do.

Just came back from Target. Star Wars: The Complete Saga is in my house .

Lithographs are very cool and pretty big. Nice art. Definately awersome free bonus.

The only problem my store had about 25 copies left and all of them were with a security lock with a wire across all boxes. So, these stupid wires damaged all boxes. They have huge "cut" across the box. What a bunch of tools.

I was lucky, I went through all boxes and found the best looking box and it doesn't look that bad but still, nice job Target at ruining the box.

If I can offer another perspective, I'm beginning to think questions of order aren't terribly important for enjoyment of the Star Wars films. This is particularly true in the case of from-birth fanatics like myself, who've seen them countless times.

If you're going to watch them all at once (madness), then I suppose it's worth following some kind of prearranged pattern, but most of us won't go down that road because it's neither practical nor enjoyable.

Having said that, if you're completely unfamiliar with the films, I strongly urge you to watch 456 before 123 (or 45 anyway). The reasons for this are three-fold:

1. I've always enjoyed the prequels (aside from parts of 1 and 2), but I don't kid myself: If the originals hadn't existed, I wouldn't have given them a second thought. In fact, episode 2 was so dramatically inert that I mightn't have bothered with 3 at all.

2. The move towards more expansive environments (albeit CG ones) and more dynamic saber battles in the prequels might (might) negatively affect your level of enjoyment if you go PT --> OT.

3. Finally, given that it's generally accepted that the original trilogy is more enjoyable than the prequels, it'd hardly do to be burnt out on the characters and so on before things really get good. At best, your palate will be blunted; at worst, you'll get to The Empire Strikes Back and think, "Meh."
Damn it you convinced me to stick with my original decision to go 456123. Okay no more reading for me now, going to go watch IV now. Happy Star Wars Blu-ray Day everyone!

Just finished SW OT early this week (I'm in europe),and I rate them as most people:ESB,ANH and RotJ.Just can't stand those teddybears in RotJ.Totally ridiculous, and unfortunately I can't see past it.Also agree with those who thought Ford's performance was abit off.

I love Mos Eisley.Think the slow pacing is what I love about ANH.Must be said that it was the first SW movie I saw in theater (Saw it when it came out as a 12 year old,or around that age),and it made lasting impressions on me.Back then I thought you guys in the states had plenty of other SW movies which wasn't released here in norway

ESB is obviously the best in the OT,but I like the first 2 movies equally since they are quite different

I have watched them all on a 106" screen, and ESB (nor any of the others) does NOT look like upscaled DVD. PQ far from average imo.

Just finished the archival commentary on Episode V. Freaking fantastic!

I've marathon'd the films once before going in chronological. I've always was interested in the suggestion of watching them 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, and 6. I'm trying that right now and I gotta say, this works just as well as chronological order.

Glad i didn't listen to those suckers lol. Because this set and the techincal presentation for these 6 movies is just simply amazing. With TPM leaning towards just "Good" while the others is in the category "tremendous" transfers

79.99 + free lithographs = free. They cost $ 9.99 separately but yes, they do worth $ 10.

They look nice not just a plain paper reprints as I thought.

They have a painting like paper as if it was an original piece of art.

Really awesome looking stuff. I'm thinking framing them asap.

I was planning on giving my 4yo son the lithos to put up in his room. Now having them, and seeing how nice they are, screw that. They're getting framed and going in the HT. Sorry, kid.

I am very protective of what my 5 yr old daughter watches, and I let her watch all of TPM and she did very well... there will be some major fast forwarding/scene skipping in the others though
