I didn't encounter any problems upon watching A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. But, I did notice there was a lot of DNR that took place during both of these films. It was like someone gave three year old an eraser and locked them in the editing room. While the quality was halfway decent, I didn't like what they did with the scrubbing of the PQ with DNR.

I plan on sitting down tomorrow afternoon and watch Return of the Jedi. I'm just waiting for the Prequel set to arrive from Best Buy.

Why would you take it back?

UOT aside, this is a great set!

The PQ is fantastic for the most part, the OT looks great. Unfortunately I don't have surround sound but I think the amount of comments praising the audio speaks volumes

The extras are possibly the best part of the set *drool*

Unfortunately, I will have to exchange mine due to paint chipping, but I can't see how any fan would not want to own it...

Yep. Was supposed to be a stop motion creature. Who's design wasn't nailed down as of yet.

Hence why they didn't think ahead about the fact that Han walks behind Jabba in the scene.

Funny how Simon Pegg talked so much shit on George Lucas. I wonder if he knew Lucas added the scene with Nick Frost when the make fun of star wars onto the bonus disc.

Lucas is shown as claiming Jabba's an alien as early as 1979. The 1977 Marvel comic shows him as a catina-type alien. There's a picture from 1981 showing a very RotJ-esque Jabba drawn over the human character.

But all of that is supposed to be evidence that Declan Mulholland was always intended to be the character?

Wut?

Yeah in fact I think Phil Tippet talked about that in some article in Cinefantastique of Cinefx.

And yes there's a storyboard by Joe Johnston which clearly shows a large alien figure superimposed over the Jabba actor.

No it's from some comedy show. He and his buddy are trying to do a low budget remake. They are both in cardboard costumes acting out the arrival on Tatooine scene... but it all goes awry. It's actually really funny.

Aww I wanna watch it now

I LOL'd when someone posted the GIF of him burning his star wars stuff! It's from Spaced and people thought he had done it as a protest of the recent changes which made it even funnier

What's wrong in that article? I think the evidence it presents for the scene not being intended as a visual effect, at least during production, is pretty compelling... I struggle to imagine how they'd manage to composite a stop-motion slug into a loose shot with a human character; and can't really think of a comparable effect in the original films.

i had that issue with the shmi skywalker scene. haven't gotten to the other. if it's a player issue, it's small enough for me to ignore it.

Another site that mentioned this problem thinks that it might be 'Denon' related, and I just noticed that BOTH of you have 'Denon' receivers...

...as well as I.
