Yes. Chewbacca has always done the Wookie-Tarzan yell when swinging on the vine in RotJ.

I hear this line and the "HOW RUDE!" as being the two examples of why Jar Jar is lame and totally doesn't fit in these movies.

But, and I'm in no way a Jar Jar lover, the pronunciation of "ex-squeeze" fits in with the rest of his gibberish, extra-syllable nonsense Gungan language. If only "ex-squeeze me" wasn't the go-to obnoxious phrase of teenage girls at the time it wouldn't have been regarded with such derision.

And Threepio says "HOW RUDE" in our FAVORITE film, Empire Strikes Back, and no one takes issue with that?! This is just another way to fit characterization and dialogue together in a way to improve continuity, or at least allow viewers of the new films to recall fond(er) memories of the originals.

The set is phenomenal! I have only watched 1, 1/2 of 2 (fell asleep midway, it came on Friday and I tried hard though I'd been up since 6am and get home from work after 7), 4 and 5 and haven't even TOUCHED the bonus discs yet.

Anyone else have a "viewing party" over the weekend?

Cool. Thanks. I didn't remember ever noticing it before. It does sound kind of silly but then so do a lot of things in these movies.

lol there's no way that was discussed in the last 1800 pages.

It is a weird thing a lot of Star Wars fans engage in. More so than pretty much any other fanbase. I don't even think Star Trek fans get this obsessed. It's kinda cool that people have such passion for things. But there's a point where it gets a bit absurd and you start ignoring the concept of Suspension of Disbelief that is required to watch a fantasy film like Star Wars. Sometimes I wonder if people would be happier if the movie constantly paused and a little animated Lucas would pop out and explain everything. I think he likes to not fill in every answer and leave people with questions and things to speculate on. Which I think sometimes is half the fun. But sometimes I wonder if that's a bad thing. Since people obsess over such minor things.

He also made statements about public and cultural interests in the same speech in regards to preserving movies, yet he has pretty much ignored the requests from many members of the public to release high quality copies of the UOT for public and cultural/historical reasons, and refused to do so.

So, there is hypocracy there.

Not to mention that he basically layed out the rules of changing a movie and that it should be the director and main writers who approve of this (they should be in agreement, and all be alive for this to happen... and the director of ROTJ died in the late 80s).

So, there's more hypocracy.

You've said stuff like this before, and it's been more the efficiently and successfully debunked on many occasions. Shall I debunk it again? It was a ridiculous statement in those past conversations, and it's a ridiculous statement now.

First off were all fans of Star Wars so stop arguing. Theres a huge diff of liking the changes and being able to stand them. Most ppl can tolerate them doesnt mean they like them.
as far as Jar Jar ppl said the same thing about C3po and R2. To be honest watch Ep2 pay attention to R2 and all the noises he makes, damn is annoying. The reason for these characters is because these films are for all ages so relax. Do u go watch WALL-E and say damn that robot was annoying, no u dont cause its mainly for kids. As far as Star Wars its for all ages alittle adult stuff and kid stuff. Its fun for the whole family without Jar Jar some kid fans wont even sit through the whole movie. Lucas is very smart adding that character.

But C3po and R2D2 were not horrendous parodies of Rastafarians. The sounds they made were annoying but they weren't anywhere near despise-able like Jar Jar was. Wall-E was also not annoying. How is this even comparable? Do you watch Snow White and the 7 Dwarves and go "wow, this princess is so annoying" or "these dwarves are so annoying." No, people didn't do that then and they still don't do that now. Jar Jar was just bad to begin with, bad decision, but what can Lucas really do about it? Jar Jar is like everywhere in Episode 1 and Lucas surely doesn't have the heart to kill off the "adorable" village idiot. He also couldn't just take Jar Jar out of the film and then totally redo the character and stick the new one back in the films.

Let's face it, if in the next edition, Lucas succeeds in removing Jar Jar from the movie and replace him with another CGI character with all new dialogue... you will find NO ONE to complain the movie is revised.

I hope by 2032, he also replace Hayden Christensen with either reshoots of all his performances reintegrated over the old using CGI, or another actor. Could be good if the kid who played young Anakin was replaced too.

People don't get it, but the SW trilogies are the ultimate experimental european movie Lucas always wanted to make. It's the only movies which succeed into making the audience feel they are Bill Murray locked into Groudhog Day. Even Groundhog Day is tamed when compared to Star Wars.

R2D2 and C3PO aren't annoying, they are hilarious in the OT. Da mon Messa mon Jar Jar is actually played by Ed Wood. He is the Phantom Menace of the title.

Preserved does not mean he's obligated to re-release and upgrade each and every time a new home video format comes out for a small subset of vocal fanatics. The old versions are out there. Former Federal agents fired for using excessive force aren't going to be sent by Lucas to seize legit copies.

Now I'm a proponent of Fair Use and think people should be able to do their own edits if they want, but that they cross the line when they distribute. If one lacks the talent for such things, there are non-anamorphic DVD, laserdisc, VHS, for them.

Dude i just said stop arguing its sad really. Id rather meet jar jar face to face then read ur posts. Snow white is very very annoying her voice esp. But ITS MADE FOR KIDS. Thats my point BINKS is for kids, maybe ur a kid idk, but my point about WALL-E is u dont grade it on an adults point of view the movie is for kids. You guys are stating opinions, im stating a fact if u cant accept that BINKS is just to add something for kids then dont watch the movie, and if u dont watch it u shouldnt be talking about it. Enough said.

"Creators" doesn't need to be capitalized unless it's referring to God, to a band called Creators, or it's at the beginning of a sentence. Just FYI. Otherwise it looks like you consider George Lucas a God, and that's just preposterous! I'm sure you don't think that.

Really? wow. lmao

I just thought it was funny to see someone else on here thinking the same thing that is all. You act like you have personal stock in these movies where if people don't like the changes or have anything negative to say about them then you lose money or something. Calm down man, they are just movies.

What's the point with all the "George messed our childhood" statement? Is George actually built a time machive and erased the memory of fans who watched the trilogy in the 80's?!

Saying that George is wrong doing what he's doing with his movies is something, saying he's stelling or messing your childhood is far from the same and makes no sense at all...

Snow White was not made just for kids. It's like trying to say that the Wizard of Oz was just a kids movie. You're one of the only ones that is ok with Jar Jar and is actually defending the atrocity. The fact is that Jar Jar was a mistake on Lucas's part. Lucas most definitely have realized that shortly after the film came out or at least he probably does now but the problem is that he can't just rip the character out of the film, that would make no sense. But let's forget all this shall we? Let's just focus on your ridiculous C3po and R2D2 comment. So based on your fuzzy logic, you're telling me the original Star Wars was a movie made for kids? Yeahhhhhhhh. Suuuuuuuure. C3po and R2D2 were never hated as much as Jar Jar ever was. C3po and R2D2 is the equivalent of Laurel and Hardy and it works. Jar Jar however, does not work nor did Jar Jar ever work out well in the film. Lastly, C3po and R2D2 were not put in to appease to kids, hell, the entire original trilogy wasn't even meant as a movie made for kids. It was a for genre fans. Jar Jar however was made for kids and that's fine but having Jar Jar in the new trilogy was a mistake because the character doesn't work. You can't just take random kid friendly things and throw it in randomly into a movie. If something doesn't work, it doesn't work, you can't make excuses for it and expect it to magically work.

The Phantom Menace looks substantially worse than The Big Lebowski. DNR is the main offender in TBL but at least it has vivid colors, strong contrast, edge detail, shadows aren't crushed.

TPM is an abhorrent mess. Just UGLY.

I wouldn't say it's a mess....I would say that it's maybe too clean (and too impacted by visual enhancements) to breathe...but only certain shots.

Podrace scene is amazing.....

Also have Lebowski blu-ray and have to say that TPM looks better overall to me.
