I like my Samsung C5500, loads every Blu-ray i've bought fast, and I've never had a problem with any movie including the Star Wars complete saga.
I have a Panasonic DMP-BD65, and I have never had any problem at all with any movie. All of the Star Wars BDs played absolutely flawlessly, and loaded very quickly. It has never frozen up, or had audio cut outs at all.

On the flipside, a friend of mine has a practically brand new Samsung, and his will not play some blu-rays at all, it will load for a minute or so, then says "unable to read disc" or something like that.

Well, Obi-Wan didn't act out of a desire for revenge or cruelty. He did everything he thought he had to, to stop a Sith lord. Maybe he showed a little too much compassion in not killing him. But at least he erred on the right side, imho.

Remember Anakin showed no such compassion with Dooku. He'd already sliced off his hands but could have let him live... instead he chopped off his head.

So this shows why Obi-Wan was a better person than Anakin. Or just less flawed.

Did they all die or disappear or just get forgotten by everybody out of dramatic/story requirements or just to keep them out of the revised OT which would have needed more tinkering with dialogue looping or insert shots?

Even Naboo*, the Nabooians and Gungens, Coruscant*, Kamino, etc. don't exist except when these * are seen in the revised Celebration sequence of ROTJ.

Oh well, I try not to let it bug me and just enjoy the films as they are.

Not being a deep SW fan I've never figured out who the Sith are. Just Jedi's gone bad or something else? I'll have to Wikipedia that.
Yoda tells Obi-Wan at the end of RotS that Qui-Gon Jinn had mastered the Jedi skill of immortality and that he will teach him how to communicate with his former master.

That's not that hard to understand. If you look back to the 30s Three Musketeers swashbuckler adventure movies flicking your opponent's blade out of his hand was one of the cooler signature moves. Add 'laser' to the front of sword and, well,...

And all that aside, lightsabers do kind of limit creative choices anyway. If you want to end a duel with the loser alive and conscious there are so many ways you can get there and most of them are going to involve missing body parts.

And the deleted scenes on the blu-ray actually show Qui-Gon telling Yoda he's learned to "become one with the Force", thus retaining his consciousness after he's died.

I really don't understand you people who think Obi-Wan should've killed Anakin. If he had done so, then there would've been no OT, which would create a distortion in the space-time continuum causing all of us to cease to exist.
Is that really what you want?

I agree, definitely a better person. And as someone mentioned earlier the Sith are the mortal enemies of the Jedi, it was Obi-Wan's duty to kill Anakin, which he thought he did. If Darth Sidious hadn't rescued him he would have died.

I'm sure when those millions of voices cried out in terror a few of them found time to add 'but don't feel bad, you're a much better person than the guy who just blew us all up' before being suddenly silenced

Maybe not ecstatic but exited, lightsabres were something new and cool and for it's time the fight was also, instead of more blasters. The final fight between Luke and Vader in ROTJ now that was ecstatically exiting and fabulous. A bit too much weapon spinning and body twirling in the PT fights but still cool.

Blowing up Alderaan really was Tarkin's call, IIRC.

Really? I'll have to check that out. It's too bad that scene didn't make the final cut of the movie. It must have been cut for more important things like Obi Wan and Anakin spinning their lightsabers in pointless circles.

Hiya all youssa!

Just watched TPM! PEEEEYOUUUUUUSSSAAA!!!!!!!! What a terrible film. It was sort of fun to watch it from a purely masochistic nostalgia-type perspective, but I doubt I'll ever watch it again.

MY GOD George the Great Creator is a bad writer! The scene where Anakin must leave his mommy is the perfect example. All Lucas had to do was establish a bit of urgency - like, "hey, it's life or death for the kid! and his mom makes the ultimate sacrifice in letting him go!" And establish Anakin can't come back, no way, no how. the way that scene is written it's like Anakin is leaving for summer camp. his mom should have died. lucas is all for "rhyming" his trilogies right? what an idiot that Creator is. meesa disappointed.

oh, and they are slaves? they have a better apartment than i did during college years. and a cool car. lots of toys and pallies and fruit too. and a ton of money from gambling. rough life. good writing Creator. what was the point in making them slaves? some kind of moses angle? it sure wasn't to make the kid bitter, that's for sure! too bad the Creator forgot to follow up and have Anakin come back to free all them slaves. that would have actually worked as a way to introduce conflict between the "turn a blind eye" jedi and anakin. oh well, at least I got to see R2 remote-steered through space-shit. they didn't even remove that stupid rod betwen R2's legs.

one more thing: can someone explain how Maul gets the better of Obi-wan? i guess because it said in the script "Obi-wan then loses fight" that's what happens. But meesa very, VERY confoosed. oh, and it's good to have the high ground in a sword fight is it? i wish lucas would put a "no........noooooooooo" over Maul as he watches Obi-wan sail over him, land squarely on two feet, take a big back swing and then slice him in two. i guess like with obi-wan not using force speed, Maul was very tired then.

I remember seeing that scene in the theatre on opening night. that audience was so pumped and so looking for something, anything to applaud during that movie that there was a smattering of applause when Maul died. but then there was this nervous laughter from everyone at how forced and lame the clapping was. i have never attended a quieter, more somber premiere.

God, I could go on and on. we all could. all of these things are just examples of lazy, very poorly thought out "surface" writing. Secret chambers "on the waterfall side" and secret guns. Embarrassing. Apparently the Creator's favourite phrase is "good enough" these days. Oh to be 6 again.

Are you kidding? EVERYTHING about the first Star Wars movie seemed exiting when it was brand new. Nobody had done anything remotely as exciting in terms of special effects, back in 1977. Plus the final duel was the only time in the whole movie when you got to watch 2 characters wielding lightsabers and actually using them to, you know, have a duel.

For me, personally, some of the effects in ANH started looking and feeling old even as early as 1980, though. But that's only because ESB was so much more sophisticated than its predecessor, both in terms of storytelling and in its special effects.

I remember that as far back as 1980, I started thinking the lightsabers in the latest movie looked a bit better than they had in the 1st one.

So why waste your time watching any of his movies? I'm sure there are movies by other writer-directors that would be more to your liking.

I'm so disappointed in how George Lucas adapted these films for Blu-ray. I'm not talking about the changes to these films but rather the technical process used in adapting them for Blu-ray.

Good grief!!! The degree of Blu-ray scrubbing that Lucasfilm did to each of these films is horrible. While I've only watched The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (so far), it's like Lucas let a 2-year old with an eraser play with these films and then set those versions to be mastered for Blu-ray.

I expected a better job on these films but it's clearly Lucas had incompetent people working on these films for Blu-ray. It's so horrible that it goes beyond words.

Other than the little bit of degraining done to TPM, not sure what you're talking about.

There's plenty of grain visible in the other films. Well, the OT especially. Since AotCs and RotS were filmed digitally.

In fact, you're observations are pretty much contrary to all of the major reviews out there for the set. Did you expect mosquito net grain or something?

That's funny, TPM is my favorite Star Wars movie. I guess it's a matter of opinion.

Anakin could have chosen to stay, but he wanted to leave, and his mother agreed with that decision because she felt he was destined for more than just living as a slave.

As for them having luxuries you think slaves shouldn't have, why not? Just think about it, how best to keep slaves from revolting? By giving them enough liberties they wouldn't feel as much urgency in revolting as they would if they were kept in cages and fed dog food.

As for Obi-Wan getting the better of Darth Maul, yea that part was just badly thought out. If they're going to try to make it believable that Darth Maul didn't have time to slice Obi-Wan while Obi-Wan was in the air they would have to make Obi-Wan's force jump much faster, it certainly doesn't seem fast enough. Even Luke's force jump in RotJ seemed faster to me. Good news is that this should be simple to fix.

The rest of Qui-Gon Jinn's and Obi-Wan's vs Darth Maul's duel was incredible which makes up for that horrible part in my opinion.
