And yes, $750 CDN is an awesome price. I paid that in the US for mine. In Canada the Onkyo 805 usually sells for $1200 or more. |

Ya I'm still not sure if I want to buy it from there though. The only place that I can get the receiver for a modest price is from ebay.ca, but buying from there probably voids the warranty I'm sure.
Sucks that the prices are so damn high around here. |

There is only one thing though that has me puzzled. I don't know what it is, but everytime I pick up the 805 remote, it's upside down !?!? |

+1 LOL I wonder why? but damn do I love that remote.
As for the OP's question, you know I hear talk about all these other speakers but you don't hear much about Polk. I love the Polk line and have almost compared it to everything out there. I own the whole LSi Series myself and am greatly impressed by it. Polk together has great speakers and makes a great product. I happen to be powering my LSi25's with a Onkyo 805 so believe me when I say it has more than enough juice to power the RTi8's. I have little monitor 40's in my bedroom (they are Polks middle of the line bookshelf speakers) and when I had them hooked up to the Onkyo the produced amazing sound. You have made a good choice IMHO but again, It is completely in your ears, If you think it sounds good your the only one that matters. Just make sure to play around with settings, adjust the speakers as necessary and make the sound perfect. Pred... |

The 805 is the receiver I'm also looking at, but over at AVS, there's a lot of talk of it overheating. Since I can sometimes have my current receiver on up to 16 hours a day, this is a serious concern for me.
They always talk about giving it plenty of space; I have my current one on top of a desk with plenty of space all around it, but no one seems to have talked about having the 805 on for extended periods of time. |

I have about 4 or 5 inch of clearance between my receiver and the glass plate right above it. If I touch the top if my receiver, it is plenty hot -- but I never had any problems with it. Even when I had the 805 sit in the open, the top got hot. I think this is just a piece of equipment that even onder normal operations runs hot and as such I am sure it was designed to accomodate for that. So, make sure to follow the instructions as far as air circulation requirements are concerned and don't worry about it. As I said, I never had any problems with it and I've had it over 7 months now.
