I wonder what it will be like trying to post convert the Lord of the Rings movies to 3D.... All of those troops would probably be handled layer by layer instead of individually. Quite an undertaking.

Off Topic:
Star Wars needs to step things up with the 3D instead of playing it safe and conservative. Otherwise, why not just watch the 2D version and be happy? Make the depth pop at least. This was all based on Lucas' final "Okay", when he approved on how much 3D depth he wanted in this first film with Darth Maul. Apparently he didn't want very much depth from the 3D preview I saw. Others will argue subtle 3D depth is a good thing. As in Tron Legacy. I rather have great "unmistakable" 3D depth instead of subtle "I think I can see a little 3D" depth.
I agree with you on SW. Episode 1 has so much potentials for 3D - pod racing, space battles, etc. I thought Lucas spent a few years on mastering the 3D but then gave the film to the company that converted other movies. That, to me, is the biggest let down. I hope the final product is better than what I saw in the trailer. I mean, they spent a lot of time converting this movie.

Next year will be another great year for 3D movies with more directors come aboard.
