i do see that but at the same time, wouldn't his Jedi training take over and he would know he had to kill him?
also, wouldn't the midi chloreans be cloned in the same ratio as the rest of the genetics?

The Pod race brings out the smiling little kid in all of us.

For whatever reason, Jar Jar gets less annoying the more times I see this movie.

And, Qui Gon is my favorite prequel character and Im pissed he dies. He was a rouge but I LIKED that about him. His attitude towards greed being good and his grounded-in-reality take on things felt real instead of the always overly-mystical Jedi beliefs. I love how he doesnt always follow orders and just does whats right when factoring in the present situation.
Agree about Jar Jar. I guess it is because I know what is coming and have moved on. Ditto on Qui Gon. I wish he (along with Darth Maul) could have hung around through the entire PT.

That Times article was pretty interesting. I hope Lucas does (finally) get back to small, experimental movie making. I would love to see what he comes up with. He was quite the wunderkind back in the day. Whether he can recapture that is another matter. Big, huge money changes people. It just does.

Yes he does, all he would have to do is release the OT unaltered and all of that criticism goes away. I tell you, Georgie Boi has lost it......

The man is way too insecure for his own good. If he had a real sense of backbone, he might have done better in Hollywood over the past fifteen years.

I would assume McCallum will take over and personally I think he will protect the franchise better than Lucas did.

I am pretty sure Lucasfilm will stay in business.

That's because you can't get the bonus discs (especially Disc 9 with the good vintage documentaries that were produced before the revisionism dark times began) unless you get the "Complete Saga" boxset instead of the OT set. Note that the current cost of the "Complete Saga" set is less than the secondary market prices were for the 3 major documentaries ("The Making of Star Wars", "SP/FX: The Empire Strikes Back", and "Classic Creatures" [the latter two were quite difficult/expensive to find a legit copy of]) which makes it a good deal even if one assigns zero value to the PT discs.

I wouldn't compare Lucas to Hitler, as Joseph Stalin is a much more apt comparison. Consider that both are well-known for creating a cult of personality, showing a serious lack of tolerance for dissent, and most of all trying to alter history and pretending that the revisionist version is the truth.

No. No he doesn't. The petulant children are the ones who cry and bash him and his family because he won't release what they want.

I don't blame him at all for being sick of the fans who feel they're entitled to have what they want regardless of what the Creator wants.

This thread has done more than prove that he's more than justified being fed up with the so-called fans who can't seem to get over it.

You have access to them. Last I checked they were released on BetaMax, VHS, LD, and DVD. So your point is?

And given the minor changes to the films in the new cuts, they're not really different movies. So again, your point is?

And regardless... nothing that Lucas has done is worthy of the childish vitriol that gets spewed at the man and his family.

The OT in its current state is almost more CG than film, twisted and evil. Or, in short: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Changing the color tone and balance to the films as a whole may not make them different movies but it certainly does change the experience. They overwhelm all 3 of the original films. And let's not forget all the sound changes. The effects are mixed much louder than the score, which is a travesty.

I personally don't think it is rubbish, the majority of criticism comes from the lack of releasing quality versions of the OT. Indy 4 and the prequels, while having issues IMHO is not as bad as the changes and lack of a new transfer of the OT.

I totally get it. I can live with some bad decisions on new product, but taking away the OT from us is inexcusable.....

Last I checked there were very few major changes to ESB or RotJ. So that's nonsense. But feel free to continue to tantrum about it.

Just because I don't buy into the revisionism and debasement of the 70s/80s Star Wars franchise like you do does not make for a tantrum. If anything, you're going "LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU" anytime a valid criticism of Lucas is made.

George Lucas was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force. He ceased to be a filmmaker and became a marketing machine. When that happened, the good films that were the Star Wars Trilogy were destroyed.

Again, what's minor to you might be major to others...yet you continue to belittle them as if your opinion holds more weight than theirs. There are many, many sites dedicated to the changes to all 3 of the original films. If you refuse to acknowledge their validity or accuracy, then that's on YOU. If you want to continue to live in that world, then more power to you. However, don't try and pretend that it's based in any sort of reality when facts prove YOU and YOUR opinion wrong.

Yes. How dare investors want a say about the movie they're financing. How dare they!

Usually I'm 100% sympathetic with filmmakers (who suffer studio intrusion) but Lucas sounds like a child who's taken his ball home, packed everything up and moved to Marin County lock, stock and barrel but still doesn't want to play ball because people were mean to him forty years ago.

I found that article incredibly sad to read and Beast you're just as much as a fan as the rest of us, so you're missing out just the same (and been tarred with the same brush), there isn't a uber-fan screening process so you can slip through the net.
