I think back on all the posters I mangled when I was a kid that are now probably collector's items, it makes me cringe.

I had an original Predator movie poster hanging over my bed when I was like 9, my older sister got it for me from one of those "Sneak Preview" nights. It was tacked up and I think I traded it for a Crocodile Dundee poster (another original I'm sure) to some kid down the block.

We had a video store go in the shopping centerl down the street back when rental stores were like the NEW thiing, we're talking this place had a Betamax section and you could also rent VCRs there in the giant plastic suitcases. They'd give me all their old posters when they'd hang new ones, I had stuff like the original Critters, Romancing The Stone, The Last Starfighter, etc. So pissed I never kept that stuff looking back, even if it WAS covered in scotch tape marks and thumbtack holes...

Oh man you guys are bringing back the memories. I don't "feel" like an old guy but gotta say these kids today don't know what they're missing.

Going to a video store, checking out all the box art and posters. Trying to sneak in the 18+ section. Getting free posters and cardboard stands. Talking to people. Yes actual communication with a human being.

Where would kids today even go to get a poster if they wanted one?

Who knows who's right? I am 100% aure thumbtacks are bad though.
While I don't have any Mondo prints framed, my theatrical movie posters that I have framed I didn't use spacers. Just in between UV-glass and the acid-free backing of the frame. When I have the chance I am going to have the frame lady who does my framing take them all out and clean the glass inside and out and then put them back together.

If you're framing any 24x36 and want to go the cheap route with no mats you can get a good deal. I grabbed this for my Thing poster as a temporary solution but may end up keeping it in something like it:

24x36 Standard poster frame off the shelf $49.99 take 50% off
24x36 Conservation UV glass around $45 take 40% off with coupon
Acid Free backboard - around $8
The guy that did all the work threw in spacers for free. Stupid me got the more shallow frame by accident so they wouldn't fit but I know for next time.

Out the door for $55. Not bad. I'm digging it in the plain frame and may just end up sticking with it.
It looks good indeed... for the cost you can't really go wrong, at that cost I could frame 3 and go out for a burger for the cost of one of my latest frame job.

Although this isn't technically a movie poster i'd thought i'd share a few pics of the Olly Moss Mario variant i just got in today. I'm hopeful i can get a copy of the Zelda regular when that is released so i can frame them up and hang both side by side.

Well first i have to get the Zelda which judging by the Mario drop will be extremely hard. If i can manage to get a copy i will put them up in the living room maybe over the couch. I'm starting to backlog on posters i need to frame so more than likely the Zelda will be my last attempt at any poster for a long time so i can focus on framing what i already have.

The gold variants will be sold at Land Gallery in Portland OR and will be up sometime on Friday March 9th-Sat March 10th after the opening. They are only selling the variant which i believe is an edition of 70 but don't look for many to make it online as the first people getting a crack at it are the ones who line up outside the gallery. The variants will be $100 + Shipping and the best way to stay on top of the drop is sign up for the Land Gallery newsletter (link bellow). As for the regular red edition no confirmation has been really given but i'm assuming Olly will put the regulars up on his site a few days after the Land Gallery sale like he did the Mario prints where the regular was $90 so i'm also assuming that is how much the regular Zelda will be and also no edition size has been given for the regulars that i know of. The Mario regulars and variants he put up on his site via a sale on twitter so look for the same to happen when he sells the Zelda prints.

So Since I don't live in Portland, I have no choice but to wait till they are sold online?

Here is more info to expand on what Technique posted for those who are curious...

The Mario print was part of a gallery exhibit on video games in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. There was a standard edition which was limited to 150 numbered prints and a variant which was limited to 80 numbered prints. The gallery itself only had about 50 of the standard editions for sale at the opening night of the event, however earlier in they day they released a few online (less than five I heard) and they sold out in seconds. The other 45 were sold to people in line, some waiting since 8pm the night before. The artist then sold his remaining copies via his site and as everyone can imagine, they sold out in seconds.

For the Zelda print, he changed things up a bit and instead of offering the standard at the show, it is the rarer variant that will be offered. It was announced that the standard edition will be 250 numbered prints, which I assume the artist will sell via his site soon, but the variant is quite rare with only 100 numbered prints made, and 70 of them will be sold at the Zelda exhibit in Portland on Friday evening when the gallery opens. So basically most of the variants will be sold there, I am sure Olly will sell his copies via his site. I have to assume he keeps some for himself, I think most artists do so that would mean probably only 20-25 of the variants he would sell. The variants will be highly sought after.

You mean pics of my posters? They aren't anything special to be honest. In 12 years of living in my place I don't have anything up in my entire upstairs, why I don't know. Just have a few downstairs that are framed, but have others framed but sitting in my closet.

Default The Thing Sells For........

Surprised no one noticed that the Stout "Thing" print that the seller had on eBay that he listed as trimmed actually sold.....for $2200. WOW. He had it listed for $2500 with a BIN of $2800, I for sure thought he was overpriced and would possibly get $1000-$1500 for it since it was trimmed (and he did state that it was in his auction which was wise) but getting $2200 for a trimmed one pretty much means a mint one is going to fetch $3000 easily. Insane.....

Of course! I like seeing a nice framed-up original.

I can't believe that Thing on ebay went for that much. Is that price legit? Gadzooks!
