I got it!
Maybe in a future re-release GL could change it so that when Yoda saves Anakin & Obi-Wan from Doku crushing them we hear Yoda yell "nooooo!" ![]() |

In fact, a lot of the younger generation have seen it exactly that way. And they don't seem to have any problems. |

Yes, but that's the younger generation Beast. My little guy's almost 3 and I'm going to probable introduce him to Star Wars with TOT first. Once he's old enough he can decide in which order, but I want to introduce him to how I watched them in the hopes that he'll appreciate how far effects have advanced.

I think that for a first time viewing it's best to go IV, V, VI, I, II, III and George Lucas prefered order of viewing be damn
![]() After that I guess watching it in order is the right way to go. |

Like myself when you have seen this movies 5 times a years for the past 25 years or so it does not matter how you watch them, you are right on that. But everytime I see or meet someone who as never seen them (it does happen) I prefer introducing them with the original first and after that the prequels

1. If you've never watched any Star Wars movie before or have no real knowledge of Star Wars (e.g. a teenager), then watching them in order from 1-6 is probably best, as it allows the characters to develop organically, and preserves some of the surprises until the latter half of the saga. For example, it's hard for some of us to imagine, but for a new viewer it can be quite an interesting journey to see Anakin Skywalker go through the entire cycle from good little munchkin to evil warlord, then revealed as the father of Luke, all the way to redemption and death. It also builds suspense in that the viewer may wonder if Luke (and the galaxy as a whole) share the same fate as Anakin, the answer to which is only revealed in the last half hour of the saga. 2. If you have any knowledge of Star Wars or have ever watched the original trilogy movies at any point in the past, it makes more sense to watch 4, 5, 6 (original trilogy) then 1, 2, 3 (prequels), or just stick to 4, 5, 6 and leave it at that. This basically gives you the meat of the saga, along with the nostalgia factor. The characters and settings are all established without requiring any information from 1, 2, 3. Then watching the prequels fills in the gaps by giving the backstory and fleshing out the characters - though obviously some people object to how these characters are fleshed out (e.g. Boba Fett), hence the 'delete prequel' option. The way I really want to watch it is I II the clone wars series then III IV V VI but have to wait for the series to be over and if the Live action show ever happens do it all Orr again with that series in the middle would take a while but would b a pretty awesome excpirance I'd imagine

Seriously...google it. Rister Viewing Order. 451236 is almost a decade old, man. It's the only way to show these films to newcomers. It's why I came up with order in the first place, because a friend of mine was about to have his first child. Not saying McWeeny ripped me off, but also not saying my order was a secret. I personally think 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6 is OK for people who already know the story, but it makes the saga a disappointment for newcomers. Viewing 4 and 5 before 1 gives away the whole Anakin/Vader/Luke's Father plotline before you even see Anakin as a child, and hence creates an anti-climax when watching 1, 2, 3. You don't see Anakin evolve, you already know his fate, which is a common problem with prequels anyway. You also know that Obi Wan and Yoda can't be killed in 1, 2 or 3, as well as the outcome of the Clone Wars. Then jumping from 3 to 6 at the end only gives an even more jarring change of pace. |

I wish they would get rid of the matte lines from the sfx in Empire. Also, the strange variations in the size of the snow speeders in relation to the walkers is a bit distracting. Other than that, this film is glorious.
And aside from the odd revisions for blu ray, the original/revised ie lowry star wars looks great. |
