I still do not like Hayden's photoshopped head, and he looks he's undressing Padme with his eyes, so it makes it worse. My friend whose not a major star wars fan, couldn't remember if Yoda's ghost was in the final scene or not because she was so distracted by the Hayden head.
Yeah, I love RotJ. Always was my favorite SW movie. My earliest memory related to SW was being so excited to see Vader unmasked and being devastated to find out he's not some bad-ass underneath. Quite the opposite actually.. haha.

That song is pretty painful to watch and listen to. I agree. Except for the Jabba in ANH, the changes in RotJ are the worst of the trilogy imo.

I find the special edition of Jedi so unwatchable to me now. I stopped watching it years ago, and probably won't again. In the end, it's still the same story, but there's definitely enough changes that really ruin the 'feel' the original had.

See the extra "George Lucas on the Force" under interviews on the Dagobah section on bonus disc 2. This is culled from a session when they were discussing the Mortis trilogy which appeared in Season 3 of the Clone Wars and also adds a unique take on the Force.

Or how about the whining about the youngling training scene in Attack Of The Clones; they're too close, they'll chop each other's arms off, look how badly they're swinging the lightsabers around blah blah blah. What, like those Jedi sprogs would EVER be given a full-power laser sword to wave around within arm's reach of another person?! Oh, and by the way they're KIDS, so I wasn't expecting to see sword handling skills resembling Obi-Wan vs Darth Maul.

See? There's so much subjective bullshit in the Plinkett reviews it's staggering, calling out the stupid movie logic - present throughout the originals and pretty much every 'blockbuster' ever made - like Lucas is the anti-Christ himself. Yes, there's genuine objectivity every now and then but it's quickly drowned out by the unwavering intention of the writers to simply rip Lucas a new one. And the haters just blindly lap it up without thinking about it for themselves.

Even in Plinkett's new commentary for Star Wars they get their facts wrong in the first thirty ****ing seconds, calling SW the first big blockbuster movie, when a certain shark movie lays claim to that title. Pfffft.
A lot of the review is meant to just be comedy-- and yes, NO FILM could withstand the thorough and relentless analyzing of every aspect of the story. That's just the icing on the cake. Plinkette himself says this in the review, that all of his nitpicky stuff doesn't really matter and it is really about the real fundamental problems of the films that need addressing.

I listened to the new commentary track today and laughed my butt off. My favorite part was at the end when Plinkett talked about Denis Lawson being "Ewan McDonald's" uncle.

He made a joke about "McDonald" doing the prequels for money and laughing about it with his uncle over Guinness beer. Then Plinkett said, "But McDonald's Scottish, right? So they both laughed over meth!"

That cracked me up.

That's how I felt about it, when watching the reviews. All the nitpicking is basically filler.. and it's hilarious.

some details on the Raiders of the Lost Ark remaster (via DigitalBits):

"Raiders of the Lost Ark has been painstakingly restored with careful attention to preserving the original look, sound and feel of the iconic film. The original negative was scanned at 4K and then examined frame-by-frame so that any damage could be repaired. The sound design was similarly preserved using Burtt's original master mix, which had been archived and unused since 1981. New stereo surrounds were created using the original music tracks and original effects recorded in stereo but used previously only in mono. In addition, the sub bass was redone entirely up to modern specifications and care was taken to improve dialogue and correct small technical flaws to create the most complete and highest quality version of the sound possible while retaining the director's vision."

This is the kind of care that Star Wars should have received, and it's really unbelievable that it didn't.

I know, I know... but when I read that I immediately thought of SW so I had to vent.

I think Star Wars has never looked or sounded better ... however I have to agree .. it should have had a better restoration

So in other words...

George was NOT involved.

Then again, only Raiders received the white glove treatment, while TOD and TLC will be simple remasters, and this is after the Indy Trilogy was pulled from a blu release at the last second back in 2008, due to quality concerns. You would think that in those 4 years, all 3 films would've got the same attention to detail. There definetly was enough time. Kinda sounds half-a**ed to me, just like every other Lucasfilm release - including SW. I am excited to watch Raiders on blu, but at the same time, concerned with the quality of TOD and TLC - both in the audio and video dept..

Really? they look amazing on DVD so I'm sure even a 1080p DVD master would look great. I also am not sure the cost of restoring all the films would've been worth it.

Is that really saying anything? That's pretty much the bare minimum requirement for a blu-ray, if a DVD or HD broadcast looks better something went VERY wrong.

I don't think the other 2 would need the same level of restoration as Raiders. They didn't play in theaters for over a year, with all the wear and tear that goes with that.

I have to agree with this, you pay a premium for blu-ray over DVD, it is quite reasonable to also expect a better PQ + AQ.

Hopefully when 4K hits they will finally do 1,4,5,6 justice and give them a proper 4K scan, so that we finally have all the films in their optimal (in whatever edition) quality.
