I don't have a price in mind, just looking at the moment, doing my home work so to speak. Maybe $800 or a bit more for the set up

I think if you shop around and look at some Polk, Infinity, Klipsch, etc. you can find something pretty decent in that price range.

To be honest, for now, if I could get away with spending $400 or less I'd be happy. Once things settle and the move is all said and done, yes I would like to think about buying all the bells and whistles. I get awesome sound now thru the optical and coax, but think I'm missing something.

They are really pushing Denon and Pioneer Elite receivers at Best Buy. I told the guy they were out of my price range, and he told me no receiver within my price range will decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. I told him the Onkyo SR 605, and 705 are within my range, and all he did was talk crap about Onkyo. Jackass.

For that reason I cannot stand going to CC or BBy. I do a lot of research before I step into a store to buy something, exp in the electronics area, as everything changed day by day. I personally enjoy my Onkyo 674 (last year model). Just need my PS3 decode the newer audio codec, so I can enjoy my fox movie titles. If i had a few to spend I would surely throw down some money for a 605 or 705 (depending on budget)

my husband works at Best Buy and no, they do not have any receivers in that price range to do what you want. He ended up buying the onkyo 605

That's cause they don't carry them.

Just got the Onkyo 605 from Amazon $339 delivered. You save $$$ if you take the silver one. Worked for me.

Why do people think the salespeople at BB are experts? Most are college students, or people just working a part-time job. Do your own research. Go to BB prepared and knowing exactly what you want.

Yes. Silver doesn't sell as well. Black is back as the preferred color of components.

Yup, they make you pay more for black. When buying a receiver with HDMI, some only do HDMI switching (below $500 usually). You want HDMI sound processing. Also, 1080p will be passed through any receiver, it's just sometimes the receiver only upscales to 720p or something for any video signal that is not sent through HDMI. Onkyo 605 is the best choice I have seen so far.
