Google "Beyond3d Pixel Counter"

They have an accurate list of native 1080p games.

From the list above, you can eliminate the following...

NBA 2K8 (720p)
Call of Duty 4 (Ha ha...600p...blame the Xbox 360...thats 307,000 pixels less than 720p)
College Hoops (720p)
The Darkness (576p)

You can add
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Transformers
Pirates of the Caribbean
LocoRoco
Super Rub-a-Dub
Super Stardust HD
NBA '07
Blast Factor

Maybe check the display settings on your ps3 if your tv is putting out your 1080 game in 720.

Isn't CoD4 1080p cos thats what it says on the box.

And super stardust on an 1080p set looks amazing.

I have Ridge Racer 7 and its 1080p/60fps without any upconversion. When friends and family come over their jaws drop when they see the graphics. Its a great game which you can just throw in the PS3 and show off your set up. I suggest you pick up a copy and check out true 1080p graphics.

COD4 does say 1080p on the box.

I'd have to go look again if it's 1080p/60 or not.

The PS3 will choose the resolution closest to what it is being rendered internally by the game automatically (assuming you have them all checked off in the settings). A game may "support" 1080 i/p, but the PS3 may "choose" 720p because that's what the specific game renders at natively and what yields the best performance (usually chosen by the developer).

It really depends on the game. GT5p chooses 1080p for example. Whatever resolution is output as default is the one the developer prefers it to be output as, so it's usually the best choice unless you have a TV that only supports 1080i.

Good! Now, I know why Blacksite Area 51 shows as 720p (if it's really even that) instead of 1080p, on my SXRD, like its listed on the back cover.

this is correct

COD4 boots up in 1080p, but once the game starts it reverts back to 720p.
you have to go in to the display settings on the Xross media bar and untick the 720p & 1080i screen resolution so that it plays at 1080p. (and even this i think is an upconvert)

That's correct! COD4 is upconverted from 600p to 720p, 1080i and 1080p.
