I agree, TPM sucked in 3D. Personally glad they cancelled for now. I rather have all focus on Episode 7

Funny for 2 reasons:

1) VHS didn't really show grain because the resolution was so low... so, yeah, watching grain would mean you're watching something WITH higher resolution, not something without. Do you complain when there's heavy grain at the theater? Because it's there.

2) The grain in BSG was all artificial. That's not real grain, anyway.

Bad news, I'm afraid. Disney has canceled any plans for any additional Star Wars films in 3D.

Source: http://www.blastr.com/2013-1-28/take...-wars-reissues

Apparently, according to the article, that Disney only plans on concentrating on new Star Wars films. I guess "The Phantom Menace" is the only Star Wars film that will be released to 3D.

I didn't bother with the 3D TPM anyway. Plus it'll be nice to not have to read fans saying "OMG Lucas is re-releasing SW again but in 3D. HE wants Our $$$" which I've been hearing since the Special Editions.

But yeah they need to focus on Episode VII.

I understand that but you can still see it and not as heavy as it is on Blu obviously. I'm just a clear/crisp/clean nut.

That's almost blasphemy. Are you telling me they added that in there for the hell of it?

Yoda from the prequels and OT didn't look too different. Any differences I'd chalk up to him getting older.

Watched it today. It was awesome but overrated but I totally understand the love it does get. To me Sith is still #1.

Back as a kid I always prefered RotJ over Empire.

I think I'd rate them like this:

1. Sith
2. Jedi
3. Empire
4. Clones
5. Hope
6. Phantom

BSG was shot digitally with grain added in post to enhance the cinema verite effect of the show's cinematography.

Something tells me you might as well be speaking in a foreign language when trying to explain that.

I adore Battlestar's visual style.

Basically they wanted the show to look like it was being filmed by a documentary crew with handheld cameras as if it was actually happening.

While I don't really care about the prequel trilogy, I was really hoping I'd be able to see a wide release of the original trilogy, 3D or otherwise.

It'd be great if they would do some event or something leading up to Episode VII. Show a cleaned up original cut (retouch the effects, but leave out the useless additions), rake in the cash from die hard fans, and get them more excited for a new movie. While a new Star Wars will definitely be a big money maker regardless, I'm sure older fans would be more willing to give VII a chance if Disney were to make an effort to appeal to them. Earn the respect of the jaded prequel haters and that income can only rise.

I didn't mean me! I meant the guy who doesn't like grain, whatever the reason for it.

yup, it was shot with digital cameras... they added the grain in their post production to make it look like a gritty, dirty, documentary... they even have a message at the start of each disc telling you that it was a artistic decision

Basically, the prequel trilogy had no consistent story, bad directing, bad writing. The romance was stale and unbelievable, and the CGI and settings sometimes made it seem very un-Star Wars, like the futuristic city. Lucas just isnt a good director and clearly lost his mind. Empire Strikes Back was the best one and he had the least involvement in that one.

Clearly, you are just bashing for the sake of bashing. Did you get the account on here just for that? This was your first post!

Way to contribute, mate!

You never even gave them an honest try.

For each time someone like you is bashing them, someone else will be here to praise them:

The prequels are actually far better than the OT, which were about 30-50% what GL really wanted to show us.

The prequels have a much deeper story, also way more complex in every regard, and the VFX are only there to support the story, not the other way around.

The Blu-rays set rocks, except for TPM's PQ, which could be dramatically improved in parts.

Cheers

Agreed. Awful. Disney should RE-make those with competent people and not "yes men."

Although I wouldn't go as far as saying Lucas lost his mind, I agree with you on the rest of the points. Hopefully one day someone will reedit the whole thing, cut out Jar Jar entirely and redo some effects.

agreed, lucas totally went berserk in the PT. I mean, the OT was never citizen kane or anything but he totally took a crap on the SW universe in the PT... totally forgettable, and for the most part pretty darn painful. after watching the Phantom menace again when I went through all 6 movies in a row this year my buddies and I could barely get through it, even though in High school we at least thought it was DECENT even though a dissapointment... ROTS is the best of the trilogy but still totally forgettable.
