Delux,

I'm not trying to be mean.

I was trying to help when I posted links with pictures of the OEM remote.

I was trying to help when I mentioned the page about resetting the remote.

You feel ripped off every since you noticed that sticker. Maybe you should remove the sticker and throw it away and then just start over.

Or,.. go tear the fellas at Fry's a new one and let them know how evil and and unethical this whole deal was.

Either way is actually fine with me. If they do give you hundreds of dollars I hope you spend it and Blu and let us know what you get.

If I were you I would drop everything else and pull up the hour meter on the set... That would honestly be my biggest concern.

well it might be possible the tv was in fact a display unit and the remote by itself was a refurb. product.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just worried the damn thing won't eligible for the warranty, which comes with 2 bulb replacements. I'll check the hours when I get home from work today. Where would I find the hour meter? Thanks again.

Actually the sticker itself was the thing that was refurbished.

I don't have that HDTV but on my Sony Projector to get to the timer I have to get to service mode using the.....remote.

On mine it's up down up down enter or something like that. I'm sure google would be able to shed some light on this.

OK, if you are not eligible for a warranty then yes I would be upset too. I get that. I dont care if it was over half price, I would still want a warranty that covered everything. Why did you not get the warranty right there when you bought the TV? Circuit city was 580 for 5 year, best buy was 400 for 4 year and frys was 195 for 5 years. Thats why I shop at frys most of the time. I live in Phoenix if that means anything. The first thing i ask is if a floor model has the same return/exchange /warranty policy as a new in box. Most times it is yes so I buy open box to save money.

Fry's was 299 for 2 years with no bulb replacements. The one I had picked out already from AVS was like 180 for 3 years AFTER the manufacturer's warranty expires and came with 2 bulb replacements.

Hey,

Since the bulb is about $200.... that warranty sounds a bit off.

I don't see how a third party can offer that type of warranty. They have no way to know the condition of the set that you bought.

It's weird. Sounds a little too good to be true.

Did you get the manual with the set? I found a place to download it free and dl-ed it and will read it over just for kicks.

http://www.manualnguide.com/manual-get/4479/

In the "other information" section they tell you how to change the bulb but don't mention the timer.

It was through an affiliate of the AVS forums, and from what I've read, they're pretty reputable. I might have just done the one at Fry's if it had even come with one bulb replacement, but it didn't. The link to it is in the other thread I started, I'll re-post it in a sec. Thanks for the manual, I'll dl it and look through it right now.

3Yr. in addition to the manufacturer's, plus up to 2 bulb replacements.

That's:

3Yrs. Bulb coverage for up to 2 bulbs
4Yrs. General coverage
5Yrs. Optical block coverage

All for about $200. This is the cost of a bulb pretty much.

They use the same authorized service people as the manufacturer.

I got a 60" for $1700 and got this for $205. Great deal in my opinion and well worth the peace of mind.

Basically, after purchasing it online, they send you they contracts which you then go back online and register.

The one hitch with Mack is that you have to get the warranty within 30 days of purchase, so don't wait too long because it's a great deal and they are solid to work with from what I heard on AVS.

Extended warranties are a scam and are for morons 90% of the time. That's why he didn't buy them.
