Well Hollywood hack Damon Lindelof isn't a part the new Star Wars so i remain hopeful.

I think the odds of aliens arriving on Earth before we see the OT on BR is greater.

Lucas has said, time and time before, that the "Special Edition" versions of the films are the only version. The man has even said that he has no intention of remastering the original unedited theatrical versions of the original trilogy, ever. The questions get asked by fans almost on a daily basis and they have beaten that dead horse with that same stick for so long that it no longer resembles that stick or that dead horse.

lols

Even Disney is cognizant of the fact that when it comes to those films that they'll probably defer to Lucas' judgment. Lucasfilm still has control over the films and I don't think that Disney is going to cater to a bunch of rabid fanboys. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

My dad, long before he passed away, and my mom took me and my brother to see the original Star Wars film when it hit theaters in the summer of 1977. Yeah, I'm old enough to remember that experience very fondly. While I understand why Star Wars fans want to see the original versions of the films released, the closest they're going to come to seeing those films is going to be their DVD releases. Seriously, I think those Star Wars fans who keep complaining about the same thing over and over again is starting to sound like the "boy who cried wolf", which resulted in nobody paying that boy any attention.

Being that as it may, while me and my brother were some of the lucky ones who remember seeing the original film in theaters in 1977, I also appreciate the added footage, the upgraded sound quality, the updated special effects, that were added to the updated versions of these films. Honestly, Star Wars fans think they have some kind of entitled right to the Star Wars films. If I'm not mistaken, the only person whose opinion counts for anything is George Lucas.

George Lucas would have to be insane to pay for the remastering process for the unedited films simply because it would take away from the sales of the current Star Wars Blu-ray releases. Personally, I hope Lucas doesn't release them because we already have a version of the Star Wars trilogy on Blu-ray. In any event, even if Lucas were thinking about it, how much does he think Star Wars fans would pay for the right to own the original versions?

What I would recommend to Lucas is to remaster those films; package them into an "Ultimate Star Wars Saga" Collection (featuring the special edition films, as well) and attach a $200 price tag to the collection. I just don't see him releasing those films separately. The questions is, would you pay $200 for such a collection? lols

I always laugh when I read or hear about Lucas' true vision of the OT. It only took him four tries to get it right. Pretty inept if you ask me.

im pretty sure if all movies were left as director's cuts, they'd be too long and no one would like them.

The biggest difference between Blade Runner and Star Wars is that the changes to Blade Runner don't suck and ruin the film.

The original editions of the OT were destroyed when they created the Special Editions.

The thing about the changes that pisses me off the most is that even with the horrible CGI Jabba, Greedo shooting first and the terrible song and dance scene in Jabba's palace Lucas still couldn't be bothered to fix Luke's green/white lightsaber when he is training on the Falcon. I am also convinced that the only reason Vader now yells "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" in Jedi is because Lucas knows how much people hated it and thought it was stupid in Sith.
