I'd take Fugit over Angarano in a heartbeat. If the cast and director are changing i think they should progressively transition to the Ben Reilly storyline of the Spider-man universe.

This would not only solve cast change issue but drive the plot progressively into new territory that has not already been visited and the possibility of us meeting Cletus Kassidy.

UPDATE: Sony Going with a New Spider-Man?

Quote:
UPDATE: Sony Pictures tells us that there is no truth to the rumor that the studio is looking to replace Tobey Maguire in the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in future "Spider-Man" movies.
Tobey is still Spider-Man until proven other wise.

They will always deny until something actually happens.

It was Avi Arad's choice to have TWO villains in SP3 even though Sam Raimi only wanted one... because he said the "fans" wanted to see Venom. I believe it was also Avi's choice to have Gwen in the third one.

I also believe that Avi didn't like the idea of having RD JR. play Tony Stark.

Before you wish for Marvel to dictate the story, remember to be careful what you wish for...

Avi has moved on. He still produces but has his own company. Kevin Feige is the Marvel guy now.

Wow, according to IMDB he has produced most of the Marvel movies including Spider-Man 3. So, I guess they both worked on Spider-Man 3. Did he already replace Arad or is he going to?

I kind of like the idea of replacing everyone. The third one seemed kind of stale to me and while I still liked it, the movie did disappoint after the second one. Although it might be better to wait a while like they did with Batman Begins. I think some of the more hardcore fans might get mad about this. As to who they should pick, I would be fine with either one of these guys. Sometimes an unknown actor can be better for a big role like this. Then again it didn’t work with Superman Returns.

Arad has started his own company to produce movies (which will be mostly Marvel movies). Kevin is the guy that took his place at Marvel.

Long story short Avi worked for Toy Biz and took over Marvel during it's bankruptcy. Kevin Feige took over heading Marvel Studios when he left. IMHO Avi, although a great businessman was never great on the creative side of things (in a Marvel sense). Kevin seems to know his stuff (Iron Man, Incredible Hulk and future projects announced).

Maybe they could consider Jake Gyllenhaal. He was on the shortlist back in the day.

He's cast for Prince of Persia so I don't think they will.
