What Lucas did to Star Wars is one big f--k up, plain and simple.

All we can do now is hope Lawrence Kasdan remembered what they originally had planned for the saga and get back to it. And that J.J. doesn't pull a Star Trek.

A tall order indeed.

No, Luke gets lit up like a kid sticking a knife into a high voltage line while standing in a puddle.

As pointed out, Anakin defeats Sidious.

Well at the time it was really cool because Yoda was established as a great Jedi Knight but it was practically impossible to visualize how they could show him fighting without it being laughably unbelievable or ridiculous. And Lucas pulled it off, and it was a pretty cool scene, especially considering we had just sat through nearly 2 hours of crap to get to that part.

But that was now 12 years ago (holy crap where does the time go?!) and in retrospect you can make the argument that it didn't really suit his character. I actually didn't mind it myself, although I thought Yoda does way more badass stuff in Episode III.

Many things admittedly wrong with the prequels, but Yoda fighting is not in that list for me.

Positivity in a Star Wars thread? Get out of here!
[Show spoiler]

Yeah, everyone went nuts when they saw that scene. It was pure magic, and so much fun. It still is, to me anyways, but I shouldn't say that out loud, as we are in a Star Wars thread. Only complaining and cursing George Lucas will be allowed here.

I agree. It's easily the best moment of AOTC for me. And one of the best in the PT. Yoda is a badass.

It was perfect, IMO. And overall, in general, I think the PT was rather terribly put together on most levels.

Personally it took me quite a few years to digest the prequels. They were "ok" when they came out. Episode 2 was never "ok" though. I could never make myself find anything positive in it. The Fett/Kenobi fight fell flat, Geonosis, flat, Love story was horrible of coarse, Droid factory was a laugh riot,..

In fact, the only part I like about that movie is the ending when Dooku flies to meet up with Sidious. That scene had some personality and was foreboding.

Biggest problem with the sequels, er, prequels, was both the lack of humor and the lack of chemistry with the cast. Joyless films.

I don't like who was cast as Anakin. Either actor, both were pretty bad.

I too recall the audience making a lot of noise, but a lot of it was out of laughter. I mean you couldn't help but laugh at least for part of it.

Not in my theater(s).

Saw it twice on opening day, one midnight show and later in one of the first digital installations with my GF.

The audience roared/cheered both times.

At least Jake had an excuse...he was young! Hayden was so much worse.

It's not really Hayden's fault. I've seen him in other things and he's quite good. The blame must fall at Lucas's feet. He's the guy who says "Cut! Print! Great! We got it!"
