I wonder the same thing about Entitled fan/s. If you get burned once by the fire are you really going to come back for more?
Sorry the thread is public domain. If Content Fan have to listen to decades worth of Entitled Fans rants/raves, well you'll just have to listen to the praises of what we do have.

I think the point of my post above was totally missed. You got what you wanted a nice BD Set (nothing more to be discussed about it as its been 2 years)! Go hang out in the Star Wars VII thread. We will just continue to stew over here and once we get what we want (if we ever do) we will head out and either join ya over there or some of us will take our three films and go home.

also The Content fans dont really even post anymore here except to retaliaite against the disgruntled fans. Belive me if I got what I wanted you wouldnt catch me in this thread.

Was she sober or on quaalude's? Or was she just cranky because Kurtz wasn't taking pics of her or because she wasn't getting the attention the other actors and staff were?

Whenever I hear him talking about how his involvement with Star Wars I'm reminded of Ron Burgundy: "I'm kind of a big deal".

And if Kurtz saved George's ass several times with the first film, he damned near took it away from him lock, stock and barrel with his incompetence on the second one. So I guess that evens itself out then, huh?
When was Kurtz self-aggrandizing?? Please enlighten me. From what I know he didn't talk SW's much until around the TPM and when he started doing interviews again, he was always a consummate professional, not bad mouthing anyone or his experiences collaborating with GL. Did they have creative differences? Sure. And I think people that are in the know, know that Kurtz was a key player and his absence from ROTJ is evident in the final product. As far as Kaminski goes, his views may be one-sided, but I believe it's because the LucasFilm coin had been the same way for so long. GL blew smoke countless times that Vader was written as Luke's father when he made the original SW. In order to drive the point home you have to reiterate. With that said I felt most readers found his research to be sound and his theories and points on GL's psyche were very interesting and sensible.

Without Lucas' supervision Kurtz was happy to let the movie meander along as if he was still on the studio's dime. He wasn't.

As a team, Kurtz and Lucas were great together. When they were apart, not so much.
Dude it was Kershner who could not be rushed. He was a very methodical director and Kurtz wasn't going to sacrifice the final product. They had a pretty good idea they were making gold. Also, I believe it was Kurtz who called Hamill to film the "escape from snowspeeder" on the same day his son was born. I would call that being pro-active in trying to speed things up. Ultimately it backfired, Hamill injured his hand doing that. More issues that couldn't be helped like the X-Wing collapsing while being lifted out of the swamp by yoda (a whole other cluster himself) using the force or even more hurtful to the production was the fire on Elstree studios. It was the most challenging movie in history in 1979. If to say "Kurtz was happy to let the movie meander along" means sacrificing speed for quality, making the final product being the original ESB, then I'm glad the ****ing guy meandered.

In a nutshell Kurtz and Kershner used GL's money, financial cred and resources to make the best film possible. I get the impression of two kids in sandbox. Probably not fair to the man financing the movie, but in the end, he hired them and SW has never been that good since.

For whatever it's worth the title "The Empire Strikes Back" was thought up by Gary Kurtz.

Maybe you should lay off that Kurtz-Hatorade instead, yo.

Heh. I'll have to give Rinzler's book another read, refresh my memory. As for Lucas making it up as he goes along and Kaminski's conclusions, the truth lies somewhere in between, free of both Lucas' penchant for rewriting history and Kaminski's painfully obvious lack of objectivity. IMO the same is also true of Kurtz' place in Star Wars history...

I agree, but one seems to draw a lot more attention to itself thus making it a lot less tolerable.

Lapti Nek wins by a landslide. The puppet Sy Snootles looks much more alien and almost a little creepy compared to the cartoony CGI version, let's not even talk about the other added band members (mostly thinking of Joh Yowza, the terrible furry Disney-looking thing). The song itself is even a bit catchy and feels appropriately underground and sleazy. Jedi Rocks sounds like the intro music to a talk show.

I'm not even a "special edition hater", I enjoy them and like/am indifferent to most changes, but here the theatrical cut is much better.

Actually I didn't...and you kinda missed the point of my response.
So, with that said, I have just as much a right to post here as you do. If you don't like it...you can go post elsewhere.

I'm not talking down to anyone. I call fans Entitled/Content, because that's exactly what they are. One side thinks they are entitled, the other side is content.
Hey, we I have to listen to Entitled Fan moan for decades, they will definitely hear me comment on it. If you don't like it, you can always place me on ignore.

Nobody said you didn't have a right...what I said was the only reason you are here is to defend a person that you don't even know personally and inflame the posters of the thread that are still patiently waiting on word of the release that we want.

Well does that mean you're here to attack a person you don't know personally?
I don't know God, personally, but I certainly go out of my way to defend him.

We are attacking his idiotic decisions. Do you really think I would be wasting time in this thread if I got the films I wanted? I would not even give this thread a second glance. Everyone could praise or attack to their hearts content for all I care.

I am still pissed that only the Final Cut of Blade Runner, The Directors Cut of Alien, The Special Edition of Aliens, Apocalypse Now Redux and Terry Gilliam's Cut of Brazil are on BD and not the original releases.

Called on a technicality:
Gilliam's cut, the Love Conquers All edition, and Universal's US theatrical release are out on BD, but the original (the European theatrical release) is not. But there are very few differences between it and the Criterion cut anyway.

That's because most movies made today aren't worth getting emotional over at all, unfortunately.
