PS3 & Pioneer VSX-90TXV

Short and sweet, why is it I have picture and no sound with my PS3 & Pioneer VSX-90TXV A/V Receiver. I've tried everything, any help would be great.

the pio 90 is passthrough, meaning you need an optical cable for audio.

The reciever is brand new, so yes I have 30 days to bring it back, wht other recievers will allow me to just use the HDMI hook-up?

the Pioneer Elite 91 is HDMI 7.1PCM capable...so it would be perfect for a PS3 (PS3 decodes).

If you have a standalone, then maybe the Pioneer Elite 92 would be good because it can decode.

what store did you get it from and how much? (then I could offer other suggestions)

$500.00 from Best Buy, I'm really getting fed up, even with optical I have no sound, I have to be missing a setting somewhere. My HD cable box works fine.

did you set the PS3 to output audio over the Optical cable?

settings - sound settings - audio output format - digital output (optical)
