Myself, I've been on a wonderful vacation buying Blu-rays and taking in a magical concert. I was 10 rows from John Williams as he conducted many of his amazing compositions including 3 works from Star Wars. Truly magical and not spoiled by a single moron spouting off some of the crap that continues to get flung around in this mod approved thread. Ah the real world.... it's so wonderful!
So uh… Where do I fit in here? Just ignoring everything positive, and making yourself seem cool seems to be your MO. Sorry bud. It doesn't work. If you had such an amazing awesome life, why are you spending your time coming to a forum about blu-rays to tell everyone? Why are you here in the first place? Do you need friends? It's not working so well if that's your plan.

The scores are a lot more complex than the OT, and other than the aforementioned stand-out themes from each of the prequels there aren't as many hummable tunes, I'll grant you. But at the risk of sounding pretentious, they are Wagnerian in scale and dynamics and have a lot to offer when you revisit them. Maybe not in their edited form as they appear in the films, but they readily stand on their own.

I imagine some folks thought the visuals and acting and dialogue from the Prequels overshadowed the music so much that they couldn't give them a fair listen.

You could take anyone off the street blindfold them play those and I am willing to bet the would not even guess Star Wars film. I am not going to argue the technical merits of JW but he did not create a knockout punch in my mind for ROTS.

That's great! Unfortunately JW is not touring in my area but I am going to the symphony next weekend in Ft. Worth with my wife to hear "Star Wars and Beyond" a JW tribute by the Ft. Worth Symphony Orchestra (Box Seats). I will get to hear memorable work like E.T., Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars, The Imperial March, Schindler's List, TPM, Saving Private Ryan, Close Encounters etc.

*very good chance I could be working the message board at the concert though.
I don't know about 'Star Wars junkies,' but I guess I don't necessarily subscribe to the idea that it has to be popularly embraced to be great. I'm not talking just about the hummable tunes but the whole package. Then again, with these movies, I tend to focus on the music more than I do the dialogue or even the visuals.

Nor should you. The quality of a thing does not increase with the number of people who hear or see it. If something is well made or in this case a well composed piece of music then it is whether one or a billion people hear it or recognize it.

Does not hold the water test as the acting and dialogue were awful...and "complex" means nothing really. I have heard plenty of "complex" in my life that was crap (at least to me).

Perhaps true but for those of us who enjoy the films... I can't help but think this thread would be half it's size if the people who had nothin good to say about them left with their posts. It's really a tiresome schtick.

Star Wars was supposed to be a standalone movie anyway. starting with "Empire" Lucas started making all kinds of stuff up and maybe got carried away. i like all the movies but maybe it would have been best to quit after the first one.

I have lots of good to say about the UOT and quite a bit of good to say about TPM.

Hollow praise makes for only half a conversation, and turns a debate into an echo chamber.

Technically it wasn't supposed to be a stand alone film. He chose to make it one because he did not know how it would be received. He was more nervous than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest on the day of release. In fact he was so nervous he had to get away so he and Spielberg went to Hawaii together.

Half the negative stuff posted here amounts to little more than "Lucas sucks" which is basically trolling. And I find there to be very little explained criticism: look at elvis' post: "the acting and dialogue were awful." To which I'll point out two things: he offers no examples of good or bad dialogue and that amounts to little more than trolling. I'll also point out its a double standard found here: most threads have some criticism of the subject films but by and large people who don't like those films tend to go to different threads where they'll find positive things to say. Not so here. Here its perfectly fine to needlessly sh!t on Lucas time and time again.

Acting and dialogue were bad is trolling? Do I really need to post the examples for the umpteenth time? Or anyone else for that matter? What I said was "spot on" in my mind and have the right to say it. It was suggest that the acting and dialogue took away from a very bland score for both Clones and Sith as an excuse for it. Now exactly how is that trolling? Feel free to disagree or try and change my mind that is the whole purpose of discussion /debate.

Yes that's what I think. Thanks for asking. Looking forward to your examples.

And while I have your attention: if you're restating it for the umpteenth time why do you hang here in this thread? To continually repeat yourself with your "criticisms?" Again, I'll say that's simply trolling. Move on dude.

Because we were discussing the "score". I didn't bring up the dialogue and acting this time.....I was calling BS on it as the excuse. Calm down don't get upset bro it's only a Star Wars discussion. And I'll give you a little hint just at the first one that encompasses both. The subject matter deals with "sand".
