Yeah, but it worked for Colombo. I still enjoyed those, knowing who 'did it' and how up front didn't ruin the interest.

There are parts of all three prequels which have a snooze factor. In fact for me only IV and V keep me totally entertained throughout.

As much as I love Star Wars itself, there are some achingly boring sequences, at least for me, in the first half. To be honest...as "perfect" as ESB is - Dagobah goes on a bit much as well. |

True. I remember falling asleep during Empire with the Dagobah scenes as a kid. They're great but sooo slow as a kid.
Probably why kids usually end up picking Return of the Jedi as their favorite. Star Wars saga was made for "kids" films after all. |

1 - Who the F is Dooku? This is the first time we ever hear about this character, yet they are talking about him as if we know who he is already. 2 - if she really knew, why not demand both Palpatine and the Jedi look into it. |

She says "I think that Count Dooku is behind it", which is hardly conclusive. You're right about the Dooku part though, Lucas just cooked him up for the second film and dropped him in, just like Grievous in the third movie. We get that he's a fallen Jedi in Ep II but that's about it, it's a pity that Lucas dropped the bit about him leaving the Order from the final film.

You're right....
The conversation should have gone like this though... P: I think that Count Dooku is behind it. MW: You know, Count Dooku was once a Jedi, he can't assassinate anyone P: Jedi aren't supposed to know about their families, so why does he carry his Family Title, if he can break that tradition, then he's capable of breaking more. For my safety, I DEMAND that you investigate! It's been a really long time since I saw the movie, so, please forgive the wording if I got it wrong. |

Um.....okay. Moving swiftly along, I've always wondered why Padme thought it was Dooku in the first place. They know he's the leader of the Separatists, right, so why would he want to kill someone who opposes the Military Creation Act as Padme does (it's the reason why she returns to Coruscant at the beginning of the movie)? That act will permit the Republic to create an army to fight the Separatists, which surely wouldn't be in their best interests if they intend to secede? Typical Lucas nonsense.
[edit] The real reason is that the Trade Federation want her killed as a small favour for joining Dooku's Separatist movement (which Dooku duly obliges, dispatching Jango to take of it), but no-one knows that at the start of the movie so where Padme pulls it from I don't know. Perhaps there was some excised dialogue from that scene which made it clear that the Federation were being wooed by the Separatists, so she put two and two together after what happened between her and the Federation ten years earlier. Reminds me of the line in Ep I about "not condoning a course of action that will lead us to war", because no-one in that scene actually suggests fighting the Federation invasion in the final film, whereas in the script Sio Bibble says "we must prepare to defend ourselves" to which Padme replies with the above, which then makes perfect sense. That's what's so galling about reading the scripts for I and II, a lot of it makes sense on the page but when Lucas got finished with the final product the dialogue scenes were pared down to the bare bones to make room for more farting CG animals and Mario Bros. droid foundry scenes. And he really should've included some of the stuff with Padme's family on Naboo in Ep II, there's a bit when she looks at Anakin that's got more feeling and emotion than everything else she did in the film put together. Palpatine seemed like he rarely ever left Coruscant. Padme' seems like she never leaves Naboo... She seems like a poor representative of Naboo.
Why is she going back to Coruscant, shouldn't she already be there? |

Somewhere on the internet a bunch of people are analysing every single line in Battlefield Earth. "Did you notice Terl's inflection of that word when he said that line to Ker? I bet he knew that Jonnie Goodboy was the chosen one!"

Nothing wrong with that. People enjoy a film/TV show/band/novel and want to discuss it. People have been analyzing hidden meanings in the songs of The Beatles since 1964.
