Landis' pitch sounds amazing.

I am actually looking forward to the all female reboot though. And Linda Cardellini is an excellent choice to play a Ghostbuster. She doesn't get enough love, IMO.

My dream cast for the all female reboot would be: Linda Cardellini, Emma Stone, Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick. Throw Kaitlin Olson in there as well, as a supporting character, like maybe a medium who uses her talent to help the Ghostbusters.

This is exactly what I have been waiting for and I could definitely get behind. Hopefully this happens and not the horrible female ghostbuster reboot idea. No matter which story they go with, I want it to be in the same continuity and not a reboot of the franchise. That to me would suck.

I don't think it's a negative thing, but I'm very tired of Melissa McCarthy's schtick already and I don't want to see Ghostbusters 3 become just another lame example of the modern non-sequitur style of comedy, where people simply say random shit all the time. In the right hands that style can be comedy gold - I'm a big fan of the Ferrell - but it almost always comes at the expense of the story, unless you get a master like Apatow on the case. That's what I love about the original Ghostbusters movie: Billy Murray is improvising like his life depends on it but everyone else is sticking to the script and it's a wonderful marriage of the two worlds.

Agreed. The key to the films success is how natural and realistic the humor is. Like the original Ghostbusters. If it goes over the top, the film will suck. After all this is a Horror/Comedy, which has rarely been done well and is such a fine balance. The original Ghostbusters pulled it off, but I can't think of many others that have.

Now that the idea has been put out there, it can't be just used with a whole lot of legal (read pay off) wrangling

They need good comic actors regardless if they are female or not. Its not about who is the hottest new 20 year old tits and ass on the scene. Hell i'd take Kathy Bates if the role was written well and was funny.

Quiet Murray. You should your chance to do 3. So you have no opinion on casting. And please no Melissa McCarthy for the same reason everyone else said,

Agreed. Keep her the hell away from this movie!

I was a fan at one point, but she's just gotten REALLY redundant and is just playing the same character with every role that she's in anymore. I really wouldn't want to see her in Ghostbusters at all.

Linda Cartellini is a good choice, though.

I think an all-female Ghostbusters team could be a good idea.

I don't know, I guess it would just be different, and in this case, different is good. With Ramis gone and Murray not really interested, making a movie with an all-female team could work.

They should go the Extreme Ghostbusters route. I know many didn't like that cartoon version. But I liked it.

As I've posted elsewhere, I heard an interview last week with Ivan Reitman who said that there will be a Ghostbusters 3 that he will produce but not direct. Murray will not be involved. Aykroyd wasn't mentioned.

I like the idea of an all-female Ghostbusters, but it won't happen for precisely the reason that you see happening on this forum: too many "boys" don't like the idea because they think it will be "unmanly" to like it and it will decrease box-office. And since this will probably be a big-budget film, they won't take the chance of turning off men/boys.

I would not want to see Melissa McCarthy in it because she's a steamroller and it would turn the humor into vulgar overkill. I can just picture her sloppily running after a Ghost, getting slimed and unleashing a stream of obscenities. One of the things about the original Ghostbusters that was great was that most of the humor was subtle and conversational and there was no vulgarity, which is too often used as a crutch. You could imagine knowing those people.

Here's my picks for possible female Ghostbusters (in no particular order):
Jessica Williams
Lake Bell
Linda Cardellini
Sarah Silverman
Lena Dunham (off-the-wall pick, but her neuroses could make for a very funny Ghostbuster)
Amy Schumer

In fact, when I picture all six of them on screen at the same time, it already cracks me up. Maybe these are two competing teams of Ghostbusters.

I don't really like all female teams for the reason you stated. but a mix of both men and women would be great and a competing company would be awesome and funny.

Pretty much.

Funny thing is I don't think I've watched a single McCarthy film and she still annoys the shit out of me just from trailers. I get it, you're funny because you're a loud mouth crazy fat woman.

Yep, in a world of tolerance and not picking on someone because of their weight, she has cornered the fat-girl market in tv and movies. And in 10 years we are going to see her crying on tv telling about how she was only seen as a successful funny fat woman, not as a talented woman. Way to go!

Blame the studios or writers. I don't have a problem with people that are fat or overweight, it's just that that's the schtick they're pushing with her.

I also never said she wasn't talented, just that she annoys me is all.

I'm not talking about the weight, this has nothing to do with that! You just can't not like someone is that? Or don't think they're funny? Did i call her a fat pig? No!

With that reason. You could be what you don't like that person cause they're skinny? It's only about weight when people try to make it about weight.

Did i say anything about weight? No! You're the one who brought it up! I swear some people are so damn sensitive to something I didn't even freaking say!
