I must say, I don't really understand the rationale behind the color scheme they used for this steelbook.

Magenta and pink?

...I don't get it.

Someone on this board did a color correction of the online image of the cover to be dark blood red and it looked so good.

I like it a lot. It's very unique. The other steelbooks today were pretty blah but this one caught my eye right away.

Planned on getting the steelbook at Costco, but forgot I pre-ordered it on Amazon. I dig the logo on the back cover.

1. No one likes the remake besides you. NO ONE!

2. The SB artwork is horrible. Just HORRIBLE!

3. Who's Ted Knight? Seriously??

You're young! Ted Knight did a lot of TV in the 60's, and he hit it really big in the 70's -- he was Ted Baxter on the Mary Tyler Moore show. After that he had his own series in the 80's: Too Close For Comfort (aka The Ted Knight Show in syndication.) He was also in Caddyshack. He died of cancer in 1986.

I've never seen The Mary Tyler Moore show but I know they screened it in the UK (I'm sure it was repeated when I was a kid in the 80s).

Haven't heard of Too Close for Comfort...

I HAVE seen Caddyshack though (which I didn't like).
So, TK played the rich golf club member. I know who you mean now...

it doesnt really make sense for the movie, but it pops as a steelbook and the art style is popular now I guess.

Yeah, it's just part of the pop art color style of the whole Universal Iconic Steelbook line. I like the Psycho one the best of those, but I wish the colors were more normal.

Here's a little mock-up I made a while back (
[Show spoiler]and tweaked a little more now
) of what I wished it looked like:

That looks better. Too bad it doesn't look like that.

Colors don't bother me, I just don't need it, I have the regular blu and it is in my Hitchcock set.

Well, the movie IS about a cross-dressing serial killer. I suppose pink IS more appropriate. LOL.

I don't hate the remake but I don't love it either. I would like it out on blu esp with HD 5.1 audio. I found it interesting to watch only because I like many of the actors in the film. I did find it shocking that Anne Heche claimed to never have seen the original film when they were making the movie. I think it gave her a different interpretation of her line readings and where she went with it.

I always considered the movie more of a big budget experiment. I liked the making of the film and I did go to the movies to see it the day it was released I knew what I was in for but I think the most striking thing that I didn't expect was the opening titles using green. In my mind it always seemed like it would be red.

The remake is not effective, but it is very interesting. The commentary by Van Sant (with Heche and Vaughn) is also really great, to hear him talk about why he made certain choices and elaborate on why he made it.
