The problem is nobody gives two F--k's about Resurrection. Everyone and there mother loves and knows the first 1978 movie whos gonna watch a reboot sequel and think oh yes I remember her dying in resurrection outside of horror fans and hardcore Halloween fans the movies like it or not still need to appeal to a wide casual audience aswell as the horror fanbase.

Resurrection is a disaster on every level a sequel to that movie is never gonna work aswell as a sequel to the 1978 movie that movie is clean and simple to follow up with no baggage and lots of potential to be mined for material which they've done with kills

with Resurrection you have to explain Laurie's supposed death, what's Michael being doing the past 18 years ,where's the josh Harnett Character, why was she in a mental institution etc then people that cant fully remember H20 and didn't see resurrection will be thinking didn't she behead him lol nobody remembers resurrection

While I liked Halloween KIllS overall. The ONE thing that irks the shit out of me and stands out like a sore thumb is when Loomis says "Is it MYHACAL..DID HE KILL AGGAIN"..like WHAT???? Just the way the line is delivered and spoken seems so jarring...Like NO SHIT Loomis. IT was just so odd for that character and came out of no where.

There’s a lot of dialogue like that in this movie. Like when Brackett tells Michael that everyone’s entitled to one good scare. That’s a strange thing to say to the man who murdered his daughter. That was just an innocent line he said to Laurie forty years ago. He remembers saying it back then and decides to repeat it to Michael?

Yeah. Because I'm pretty sure Michael
[Show spoiler]was scared himself when revealed he was trapped by the mob.

I think every movie in this series has one cringe worthy line. The first movie it was "You can rip my clothes off, I can rip your clothes off, then we can rip Lindsay's clothes off" or something to that effect. She's like 12.

Ya that wasnt cringey it was jarring. When I watched the movie previous times I didnt get that the little girl was lindsay, for some reason I thought it was another of their female friends. But watching it the other week it hit me.

Again, I loved this movie. It entertained the hell out of me and i was into it from start to finish.

I think one issue with is that many people watch movies today as a critic. They want to find details to nitpick at so they can do some kind of review . instead of just watching it just to watch a movie, they watch it to deconstruct it and that doesnt let the movie engross you. IMO.

Also, probably doesnt apply to anyone here, but many people and by their own admission watch these movies on a phone or ipad and there is no way you can really appreciate any movie in that way.

I just go with it being a saying Brackett had used a number of times. Maybe not as much since the death of his daughter on Halloween, but still.

It's fan service. It's one of my biggest issues with alot of these franchise revivals. A good portion of them are now about fan-nostalgia (which can be fine if done right).

I don't mind eastereggs and callbacks but they've gotten outta hand and can take away from the story ala Brackett line. If he said that to Laurie *in context* it would of been fine but it's just another "10 things you didn't know about Halloween Kills" moment that alot of films are guilty of.

Thats true, espeshally on specialized forums such as this. For me, Halloween Kills had a Spider-Man 3 moment, where I went in with a clean slate (wasnt the biggest fan of 2018). The more I thought about it the more I didnt like kills (it actually have me more of an appreciation for 2018).

I think you can appreciate a film on a ipad (phones, I feel, are better off on rewatches when youre too lazy to get somthing bigger). Heck, many of us enjoyed films cropped, zoomed and fuzzy on CRTs and VHS for decades and missed out on proper framing or hidden details that didnt come back until DVD or even Bluray (Back to the fututre franchise comes to mind). Kills, to me, isnt a particulary deep movie. It's a Horror popcorn flick but it's far from the worst in the franchise.

Kind of another thing that makes a movie fun. IMO.

It does make it fun and does give it re-watch value, but that seems to be one of the biggest draws to films anymore. In Halloween Kills case, it just wasn't done well in alot of cases.

So far, I think No way home will have a decent amount of properly done Easter eggs and call back moments and am looking forward to that.

But, as an example, the Bracket line just fell flat and had no connection outside of Michael standing behind the bush one house over from Annie's and disappearing when this line was delivered which is why it would have made more sense and made it a better callback if he said it Laurie.

I just don't want to feel like I'm watching a Peparage Farm commercial when I watch a film lol

Good, you can read a definition. Unfortunately, you can't tell the difference between nitpicking and discussing actual major flaws to a film. You're just another sad apologist when it suits you, but I highly doubt you just go thru any film without having any issues with their conception.

And fan service is fun when it's done cleverly. Having a geriatric Brackett fumble his 40 year old one liner from H78, is just cringe.

You must be a blast at parties. Every one loves the guy who spends time being angry and miserable online and cant take some light ribbing .

I have issues with lots of movies. Though if a movie is entertaining i can forgive a lot.

You arent the gatekeeper of when fan service is or isnt fun.
Lighten up.
