I know a local buy/sell shop where I can get a used copy for $2.50.

I now plan on doing that based on your recommendation.

...that means you will be held personally responsible for the outcome.

Of the direct to DVD sequels I think Inferno is one of the best. I know that's not a common thought, but the overall feel to it stuck with me. I like the idea that
[Show spoiler]the whole movie is pretty much his hell...it shows what happens after the character is taken rather than end it at that point

I do think Revelations had potential. Hear me out haha. Up the budget and have good writers tweak the script. Doug Bradley would've done it. Think about it...it brings back certain elements missing from the sequels...wearing someone's skin for instance...a character who opened the box now on the run...and with better execution I think the ending would've worked well. But then again they ****ed that one up bad.

It's a shame how this series started so dark and serious. oh the sights they could've shown us.

You could get a region free player though. Seriously there is a Sony I just bought my dad right now for 150 bucks from Bombay Electronics on Ebay. It's brand new and it solves all your problems.

I wish we could get some more news on the status of the remake.

Last thing I read was Clive Barker's announcement last year that he was working on a script.

...I just want to know for sure if it's gonna happen or not.

Last night I watched part 3 and Inferno for the first time.

While part 3 isn't quite the absolute piece of crap I remember it being, it's not far off. It basically takes everything that was great about the first two films and completely abandons it in favor of cheesy pop music, good-looking bad actors and excessive gore.

The coolest thing about Pinhead in parts 1 and 2 was the fact that he was so unflappable and calm and reserved. That all goes out the window in part 3, as he becomes a screaming, laughing buffoon of his former self.

The new cenobites are almost indescribably awful. A cenobite showdown with the cops on main street?...Really?

Honestly, part 3 reminds a lot of Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and Friday the 13th: A New Beginning...the turning point where a previously dark series crossed over into camp and comedy.

There were a few cool scenes, so it's not a total loss.

...but it's not good.

Let me tell you about Inferno.

This...is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

I get it now why I read some many outraged fan reviews complaining that this doesn't even feel like a real Hellraiser movie. Because it doesn't feel like a real Hellraiser movie. It feels like a really bad, late-night Cinemax detective movie with a brief Pinhead scene tacked onto the very end.

Poor Craig Sheffer.

Just eight years earlier, he was being directed by Robert Redford in A River Runs Through It. How did it come to this?

I know some have defended this movie...but I can't for the life of me figure out what there is to defend.

...it's just BAD.

I only saw Inferno once long ago, but I remember expecting garbage and being pleasantly surprised. True, Pinhead is almost absent until the end, but that's what I felt was so unique - like you said,
[Show spoiler]he's already in hell, and we're observing him in it
. That made for a pretty disturbing idea.

I got the Hellraiser 3 dvd at a local buy/sell shop for $6...almost like new.

Apparently Amazon is selling it for $50 new.

The cheapest used copy is $25.

LOL...what's that about?

Sometimes Amazon's prices are a mystery to me.

I'm not sure what there is to like about Inferno.

It's a poorly made, poorly acted movie that just looks cheap as hell.

If it didn't have the Hellraiser name attached to it and a corny, somewhat lame Pinhead scene tacked on to the end, no one would even know about it imo.

That script turned into a book. Give it a read.

Or not. It's awful. Barker used to have such sights to show us but this book just ripped my soul apart with its banality.

Currently it's stuck in Pinhead's development hell.

A great novella can be adapted into a bad script and a bad movie.

And a bad novella can be adapted into a great script and a great movie.

The more you know about a villain the worse the movie becomes, and the less scarey.
The hellbound heart is all the remake should be based on, and more about Frank and less about pinhead

I think a film that explored the origins of the cenobites would be awesome.

Cenobites aren't your typical Michael Meyers/Freddy Krueger style slasher villains.

There's a spiritual/religious/mystical component that's ripe for deeper exploration.
