for sure in France the price difference between DVDs and Blu-rays won't be felt much : a newly released DVD is around 24.99 or 27.99 Euros, and then newly released Blu-rays are either 24.99 or 29.99 Euros (thanks to the 1 month 15% rebate).

It's interesting how we get two views expressed a lot on this forum:
1. Blu-rays should be cheaper. 2. TV show X or movie Y should be released on Blu-ray. I hope people can see how contradictory these views are. Being able to charge more for a Blu-ray disc is the ONLY reason for a studio to release on Blu-ray. If we want more to be released we have to be prepared to give the studios a financial incentive to do so. |

Somehow i constantly come across sales, don't know where the problem is. Just picked up Predator with a 50% discount a few days ago. What do people expect, that they get the movies with a 90% discount?
Also being in Europe, i find all kinds of online sales and i buy many discs for 15 - 20 Euros. Imo a Blu is absolutely worth that price. just my 2ct. |

It seems the Blu-ray sales haven't been as good as they were a few months ago, but it still seems to me that the best deals are online.
A few months ago Amazon had a BOGO sale. I bought 6 movies and the most I paid was $14. Their last sale was off the 'list' price not the original Amazon price so everything was a bit more. Bought two movies this week from Best Buy (Troy/3:10 to Yuma) for $20. That was better than Amazon, at least for this week. Over time, I'm sure we'll see prices trend downward- just not as quickly as we would like. $20 per movie is about my 'comfort level' to pay. I've bought a couple for $25, but that's only for the 'big name' new releases. Can't wait for the day we can get movies on sale for $5 like what happens with DVD sales these days. ![]() |
