Default Will the sales continue....?

With some decent sales (in "most" peoples opinions) from Best Buy, Circuit City, and Target do you think it will continue like this or will it be hit and miss every couple of weeks?

From what I'm reading today it seems alot of people went out shopping due to the sales and that is just us on the board, imagine those who don't post here. I know some people think it wasn't much of a sale but the post seem to differ with that opinion.

I know that new releases are still very pricey and I keep hoping they do like the standard DVD and have a major sale price when it hits the stands on Tuesday and let that price go for a week.

Personally, I'm thinking now that the ice has been broke and HD-DVD is finally out of the stores or close to it we might get these sales each week or two. Thoughts??

Any insider information out there?

WickyWoo mentioned that he would not be surprised to see Paramount come back in a big way and offer a BOGO for previously released titles. He stated it was his opinion, but he has inside info on this things. Anyways, looking foward to something like that.

I would agree with that statement, proces (overall) will not decline for a while. That is why we must be wise with our purchasing decisions.

Yea i only buy when the sales are in swing. BOGOs are a must or a lower price of 29.99 for all movies or less than the 39.99 which scares the shiz out of consumers.

I should follow my own advise. I have good discipline for catalog titles but new releases that I have yet to see (The Orphanage, The Golden Compass) I purchase as soon as they are availalbe. What can I say, I love movies.

i don't think we will see too many sales from here til xmas. maybe a little B2G1 every 2 months or something on catalog titles or even some older day-and-dates like POTC3, SM3, but nothing spectacluar

I was thinking that BB and CC compete against each other and I don't know how much info on sales sneaks back and forth between their camps I figured they might be a bit scared "not" to have some blu-rays on sale now due to the competition, just to get people into the store.

This idea that Blu-ray sales will never happen again is ludicrous and wrong. I think people got too used to the tactics the two sides pulled in the 4th quarter of 2007 where BOGO sales were happening every other week. That was an aberration more than anything else to help sway certain studios to the Blu-ray side(and it worked ).

But the studios still need to move units and when they want more sales volume they will create more sales inventives. DVD as a business is already in decline and it scares the accountants at the major studios. The sales will come...this week Target is selling Predator BD for $19.99.

I don't think it will be every week or two (if it is that often it is barely a sale, it is a drop in price) but I think sales will continue

With all the sales goin on today.I decided to not buy anything until tomorrow but I was at one of the local malls here in PA and stoped in at FYE and Suncoast to check what they had out on Blu, the selection was good but the prices was at list...39.99 for a blu, how can these places compete with places like Best Buy or CC do people actually walk in to these store and pop out 40.00 bucks for a Blu .

I don't trust the suits

I've been waiting lately. I'm tired of paying Five dollars less then ticket price at Best Buy and then seeing the same title for 20 dollars less a month later.

I'm pretty happy with what I have right now and nothing really amazing is coming out soon.

I think we will keep seeing sales on older titles everyweek , due to them competing with new releases coming out , that the buyer is more willing to pay top dollar for the new ones but not the older ones, this Xmas will be really cut throat in my eyes, and like said before with the sales of reg. dvd going down the have to make up the difference somewhere , lets hope it's Blu-ray . LOL..

I miss those BOGO's Amazon use to always have. I always bought 10-20 movies from each BOGO. BUT I missed the Disney bogo. So right now I'm really hoping for another disney bogo so i can pick up titles such as eight below, chicago.
