Default Despite Economy, TV Sales Continue to Rise

http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/0...tinue-to-rise/

Despite sagging home sales, rising unemployment and record-high gas prices, the number of TVs shipped to retailers in the United States and Canada jumped 26 percent compared to the first quarter of this year, and 28 percent year over year, to a total of 9.3 million units. (That’s the number of all types of TVs shipped; consumer sales generally lag about a month behind shipments.)

L.C.D. sales rose a whopping 52 percent quarter over quarter; but even plasma, which has lost ground to L.C.D., rose quarter over quarter sales by 35 percent and 34 percent year over year.
