I don't have a lot of audio knowledge, but given that "none-of-the-above" wasn't an option.... I'd say get the Onkyo set-up.

I would avoid these.

this would be the lowest on the totem pole, but will achieve HD audio.

That will be good... but an Onkyo receiver would have kicked it up a fair notch. Sony receivers cap out the sound frequency range at nearly the same level as AM radio, which I remember reading is 1KHz. The Onkyo receivers blast through to around 20KHz. Much more dynamics in their amplification of the signal.

Still though. It is a Hi-Def setup. And welcome to the fun!!!

you might as well go with the 606 because it's a good price for the lossless audio.

why dont you have any YAMAHA's on your list like the RX-V563 or the RX-V663? you can get the 563 for $299 and the 663 for $399 at some online stores. forget where I get my 663 for $399 online. jest do a search.

Unless the Sony HTIB offers HDMI audio passthrough, which I can't tell if it does, I would pass on all three options. Definitely pass on the Onkyo, because it doesn't have HDMI connections at all. You'll probably achieve the best sound quality from the Yamaha, but the one you listed doesn't have HDMI audio passthrough or analog inputs, so no lossless audio. I've never been impressed with Sony receivers and amps, especially on the lower end of the spectrum.

If it were me, I'd save a few more bucks to by a lower priced separate system. Seriously consider the Yamaha RX-V663 or Onkyo 606 as your brain, and buy a surround speaker package separately. You'll end up a lot happier in the long run. HTIB's compromise too much on sound quality and features to make the savings worth it.
