Flashing red light on PS3- Any fix? - Page 2 - Blu-ray Forum

Might as well be, wife just called me, and same thing just happened to ours ....

Sux, right when im outta town... ready to come home and get on PS3.

hey man sorry to hear about the flashing red light, and welcome to the club.
my 60gb just died about 2 weeks ago and i contacted sony and they said $170CAN and you get it fixed. i said screwed that sold it as is. least you got your disc out. mine after 2 hours of flashing did nothing to help get the disc out

there goes call of dutying for awhile.

I thought about doing that too, but I ended up just buying another PS3. There just isn't really another player that good for the price.

If the PS3 is really over heating and is out of warranty, you might try opening it up (not that difficult to do) and use compressed air to clean everything and see if that helps. Leave everything open and see if it really is a fan issue or some sort of heat sink on the motherboard.

i got the flashing red light one about a week ago, but im pretty sure it was the cats playing behind the tv that did it, because I waited like 5min, then turned it on and its been fine since.

But I really need to 1) keep the cats from going there 2) probably vacuum their damn hair out of my ps3

Well it would have been a "rental" from Circuit CIty or something until I got my PS3 back.. I just bought a new one at Target with a 3 year for $30 more. 10% off using a credit card sign up.

just figured id post an update...

Mine is actually working fine

... I got back in town , first thing I did was unplug the power cord... plugged it back in and haven't had a problem since *knocks on wood*

So who knows, but I had read that one guy earlier post about doing that... worked for me, unless ofcourse the wife didnt know all to much to begin with about the ps3 ... which could of been the case, but it did display the warning signs to cause me to believe this was the issue.
