I just noticed in addition to the warnings at B & Ms and on Amazon.Com and inside the case itself, there is also one about firmware updates when you start the movie up. They really covered their bases on this one.

They will if they want to sell 6.7 million. "Avatar" has set a new standard. Artistic expression will follow the money.

All I can say is WOW it's not often that I don't want to stop watching a movie and continue it the next night (usually weeknights) or don't want to see it end at all, especially for a 3 hour movie. Incredible. Well done Avatar cast and crew WOW

lol i think that's why he said 'make a bad movie LOOK incredible' as in, VISUALLY, I don't think he meant to say the quality of the film in terms of script etc has been improved.

I love the movie, I love the Blu-ray, but not every movie needs to sell 2.7 million in order to be successful. I say 2.7 and not 6.7 because the DVD totals shouldn't apply. A studio will be happy as long as the movie puts up solid sales totals.

Once again, I love the Blu-ray, but we're talking about a movie that has a ton of CGI. That's a major reason why it has the clean look it does. I'd hate to see the day when all movies are "clean".

Agreed, predator should never look clean, and what about the start of Casino Royale, or the desert scenes in Quantum, they look fantastic but have heavy grain.

Some players just need a firmware update to play the movie. This happens quote often and is nothing to worry about.

Just finished watching the movie. Aside from being a little slow to load, the Sony BDP-S360 played the entire 162 minute movie straight through, uninterrupted without any problems.

Yeah....a very good looking disc, but the storyline.....well that's a whole other issue and I'll just leave it at that.

As impressed as I have been with the Pixar films on my projector, Avatar gives new meaning to the term "eye candy". I can safely say it is the most impressive PQ I have seen to date on blu ray overall. I have never seen colors to that degree on my setup.

Default Was a scene edited out for the BD release?

I don't recall this scene....anyone?
Amazon comment from reviewer:
"I know, for instance, the scene where they fit Jake with his native clothes was cut out of the BluRay. Possibly too adult for a general release? I don't know, but I enjoyed the comic relief."

Just watched Avatar for the first time ever. As others have said, it is a demo disc that may never be beat. I also very much enjoyed the story. All in all Avatar was 2h 46m well spent on a Saturday night.

That scene was never in the theatrical version.

I thought people buy a Blu-ray because they enjoy the movie, or think they will?
