2D, because no 3D version of any movie will ever be part of my collection.

My point was that the notion that there is going to be another 3D standard to replace Blu-Ray 3D is nonsense. Blu-Ray 3D will play in 3D on all future 3D displays from here to eternity.

2D, only option I had where I got it, for the same price, I would of bought the biggest edition though. I don't have a 3D setup and would never waste my money on 3D that required glasses. Someday I'll buy a new TV, and it will have 3D as a feature that does not require glasses. That won't be the reason I am buying it though, it'll just come with that feature.

I picked up the 3D version since I do have a 3DTV. I've been trying not to buy bad movies just because they are 3D (hello, Alice in Wonderland, My Bloody Valentine, Piranha, Step Up, etc.), so I'm hoping this is a 3D release of a film that is actually good.
I really only needed the 3D disc, though. I doubt I'll ever use the 2D BD, the DVD, etc. Maybe I should have waited and tried to buy the 3D disc from someone here who doesn't want it. ![]() |

unless Tangled is different, all 3D blu-ray releases ive seen so far come in clear cases. FAIL
Just what i want, my collection to look like **** with multi-colored cases all mixed in yeah, no enjoy your fad though, 3d will never be more than a nice alternative way to watch some movies 2D version in standard BLUE blu-ray case for me |

I picked up the Target Exclusive 3D version, and used the DMR coupon to bring the total down to what the 2D one cost. I don't have a 3D TV yet, but I'll probably get one sooner or later. This is my 6th 3D title, and I've picked them up mainly 'cos of coupons. I also wanted the digital copy so my daughter could put the movie on her Ipod or to use on disneymoviesonline. I had it pre-ordered off amazon for $16.99 but I canceled it figuring Disney would put out a $8-$10 coupon. The little book that came with it is great reading for the little one, and she has already used up the stickers that come with the book. I'd say it was worth the extra $4-5 I paid over amazon's pre-order price. Last edited by mr. b; 03-30-2011 at 07:11 PM. |

The clear cases tend to be used by Sony pictures. Disney just uses the same Blu-Ray cases that they use for non-3D releases. And the other day I was at Meijer, looking at the 3D combo pack for Yogi Bear, which came in what is otherwise a normal Blu-Ray case, but instead of the regular Blu-Ray logo on top of the case, there's a REALLY BIG "Blu-Ray 3D" Logo written across the top of the case (and it's not even silver reflective or anything... it has that 'chalky' look to it like the Blu-Ray logos on the elite cases used to look like before they changed to the silver-reflective ones). So, there isn't a set standard for it. Frankly, for any 3D combo packs that I do get (the only one I actually own so far being A Christmas Carol), I prefer for them to blend in with the rest of my collection as much as possible, so I prefer their cases to be as much like any other BD case as they can be. |

How many people are actually buying it because they actually have a 3DTV and plan to watch it in 3D, or plan to get one down the road, and are actually interested in 3D.... as opposed to how many people bought it because the coupon technically was for the 4-disc combo pack (even though Target was allowing it to be used on the 2-disc set as well) and/or because they also wanted the digital copy. If there was no coupon at all... or if there was an equivelant coupon specific to the 2-disc version that could be easily used at any store, how many people would have still paid the extra $ for the 3D pack? I'm not knocking 3D here... I just really want to know how many people are buying it for that reason. The problem with situations like this is that by having a coupon like this, prompting people to get the more "premium" version, it doesn't really give Disney an accurate indication of how many people actually have true interest in 3D. |

My idea for the poll was to get a count of what was sold, not necessarily the reason why it sold. A lot of people are posting why they bought what they bought though, so at least there is a chance to explain after voting. Quote:
I don't know how the whole coupon reimbursement system works, but I can bet that if Disney gets word of the coupons being used in ways other than what was intended, they might eventually do something about it. I'm sure the stores would crack down on accepting coupons if they stopped getting reimbursed because coupons were being applied incorrectly. By the time The Lion King comes out this fall in both 2D and 3D combos, it might not be so easy to pull the same trick if the coupon ends up being only for the 3D edition again. I bought the 3D combo, but not just because that was what the coupon was for. I ended up buying it online and actually didn't even use the coupon (I got a good deal on eBay with the Groupon yesterday). I just usually make a habit out of buying the best of what is available at the time. I don't have a 3DTV but I'm not going to fight 3D because it's not worth it, even if I never use the 3D disc. Unless 3D completely flops in the near future, you can pretty much guarantee that Disney is going to keep up with the 3D only coupons from here on out (for titles released with the 3D option). It's going to get harder and harder to resist getting the 3D combo packs, especially when the manufacturer themselves is pushing it so hard. If the stores catch on and stop accepting the coupons for non-3D releases (as intended), it's a wrap. Last edited by MJW; 03-30-2011 at 07:19 PM. |

Maybe I'm wrong here, but wouldn't the programming be set in a manner that identifies the item that the coupon corresponds to? If I were to go to Target and grab a 24-pack of Pepsi, take it to the counter, have them scan it, and then hand them a coupon for Tangled, even if the cashier didn't pay attention to what the coupon was for, I would expect the computer to reject it. Am I wrong on this? In this day and age of technology, I would think it would be programmed this way. |

2d for me. I own a panasonic vt25 and had is professionally calibrated by a pro from avsforum. They did a great job but with that said My family and I do not like 3d. We are only in our mid-20's and when we have friends over that have tried it they do not like it either. I feel it takes away from a movie even though it can look cool at times.
