Holy cow...was that TWENTY years ago!?!?!?

Awww man...I was a freshman in highschool.

It was my first "health class" and the teacher brought out the banana and everything.

The dude sitting behind me was always trying to write on my arm with a sharpie...now that I think back...I think he might have been a little...um...you know.

Anyway...wow...Twenty Years.

I rememeber all the Batman t-shirts at Macy's.

I agree completely.

Hmm, the Japanese disc is supposed to be a BD-50.

http://av.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/20081031/whv2.htm

So since Warner always makes the same discs for all regions (unless they have to change something for a region like they did with Harry Potter and the Philospher's/Sorcerer's Stone), then either this info or the Japanese specs are wrong...

Or whoever is in charge at Warner Japan actually has their **** together and is releasing better quality BDs than their U.S. counterparts.

True, they did release Happy Feet with LPCM audio when the US version only had Dolby Digital. It was released a while after the US disc though, and I don't think there are any other Warner Japan releases that did that.

I'm sure they all will be. Probably every region but the US.

If that turns out to be the case then it'll probably be the same video encode, just with the extras on a separate disc for the US. Not as convenient as having the extras on the same disc, but not that big of a deal.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking as well. I may just jump on the dec. UK release if it's region-free.

From what im reading about this release it seems pretty poor to as what i would expect. I have no problems with digibook it's the fact the disc is a 25 gig with all the extras on a DVD. They should have had a 50 gig disc for the movie a 25 gig disc for the extras with the majority of them in HD.

I have to say that I'm surprised that a lot of the extras aren't in HD. They were produced only a few years ago.

I'm sorry to say it but this doesn't have me too excited. Maybe I'll wait for the double dip in 5 years as I already own them on DVD

It's just ridiculous when your trying to sell hi def you still get on new special and anniversary editions all extras in standard def. It's like you only get half the experience you would expect when paying for a special edition or anniversary.

Does it relay cost the studios that much to produce HD extras and offer them along side an HD movie

Im refusing to buy any HD anniversary or special edition until the majority if not all extras are in HD.

Well, it's silly to insist that all extras be in HD if they weren't originally produced that way. Are you going to turn down fantastic interviews and behind-the-scenes footage simply because they were filmed in SD? What about interviews with those who are no longer with us?

Bottom line is that they're extras. They're icing on the cake. If they're in HD, great. If not, no biggie.

If your going to offer a Hi Def product then they should at least on that bases offer extras in HD. How would you like it say a few years back you bought a DVD and the extras where in VHS quality.

In case you did not know as well there's something called remastering. The majority of these extras do have the potential to be remastered for HD. Of course some content can't be remastered but a sizable amount of it can so why are studios being lazy and offering us content we know can be presented in HD.

Uhhh...you can't "remaster" something to HD quality. You can upconvert it...but that doesn't do much.
You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
