I watched the deleted scenes. There's no way I will watch anything other than the extended special edition for Avatar in the future. I'm glad that I can now really enjoy the story of the film.

$19.99 is the DVD price, according to the ad I have. Is that wrong?

Is this your first blu ray title?

No, I have around 100 or so blu-rays and over 300 dvd's but I've just never had the urge to participate in the discussions until now. Maybe it's been all the great blu-ray releases lately but I felt compelled to join in on the fun.

Welcome to the club. I always select free shipping, but have always gotten a shipping soon notice the day before release, and on the day of release an email saying it was shipped, but yet this still says shipping soon.

Couldn't agree more. I honestly feel that the film never felt complete until now. I know it's just 16 minutes, only six or so minutes spent on Earth, but I really feel where Jake Sully is coming from in this edition and it doesn't feel like he just switched sides in the middle of the film for no real reason. You see that he is looking for something more than the life he has, something we can all identify with, and it makes his journey so much more satisfying.

The extra scenes with Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver and others do a lot to flesh out the characters and make them feel more three-dimensional. I also have to say that I laughed like a little girl when I heard Neytiri yell "Hell Yea" right after Jake, showing that she was just as interested in who he was and how he acted as he was with her. It's all those little things that were cut that make the extended edition a far more satisfying experience.

Why are the 8 minute and 16 minute extended versions split up? Like of your willing to watch an extended version why would you choose the 8 minute one. Seriously, what is the point of that version being on there?

I have no idea, they probably put 3 cuts on there so they could justify increasing the price. All the special features justify that though so

If you have any Digibooks, it is about 1mm taller than these. But it is not as wide, so it doesn't really look good next to them . I guess it will have to be displayed on its own like a Steelbook or something.

The school was the only thing I found truly interesting in the theatrical version and it was only mentioned a couple of times in passing. Elaborating on the school and its backstory truly fleshes out the plot. Character motivations make far more sense.

After seeing more of the deleted scenes on Disc Two
[Show spoiler]I am so happy they deleted almost all of the Norm crap. What an annoying character. His relationship with Michelle Rodriguez's character was completely unnecessary and better left removed. Although, I do wish that some of the stuff with the General was in the extended special edition. I liked the Pandora rules scene and him taking control from The Company. But alas, the three-hour cut will just have to do, right?

Just to be complete. I kind of like it, so if someone didn't want the Earth opening, but did like the other scenes, they could watch the Special Edition. I think that person is crazy, but it doesn't hurt it being there.

I have NO doubt the 3D release will include a cut of the film with even more footage added back in so there is still hope.

They probably could have got away with pricing it at least ten dollars higher. Again, it's entirely your choice, but from one eye candy whore to another, it's a pretty sweet package.
Haha, yeah I agree. I was impressed with it, and I probably will buy it for $24.99, I just wish I had some reward coupons to lessen the blow. I can always sell it later, I'll probably get my money back since the price will go up quickly.

Question to the movie experts,

I watched the CE Cut (16 mins) earlier today. In the future when I want to watch Avatar, the CE Cut would be the standard version of this movie playing on my BDP.

Now, that being said. Am I missing any footage of the Re-Release version (8 mins), or the CE Cut adds an additional 8 mins on top of the Re-Release?

Stupid question, but I just want to make sure.
