The question I have is: what does analog or digital have to do w/ it? Once the signal is received in the TV, it's presented on the screen in an analog manner - via a stream of photons.

Hello. I got my copy of this today(in the UK) from that popular auction site. It must be imported as it's not available to purchase 'in store' in the UK.

However, I have doubts it's legit. Here's why. The slip case is thin, about half the thickness of the usual one's. Also, it's very flimsy. The plastic feels thin, soft and very flexible. Not something I'd expect from a Warner release after spending what I would suspect is a lot of money restoring. When I put the BD in the player, the film starts straight away and doesn't go to the menu. The BD disk doesn't show the cencor rating and isn't in color. I also didn't think the picture was amazing. It looks great in certain parts but looks grainy and dull in many others. Not what I've read about the transfer.

The seller is 100% power seller and it came in skrink wrap unopened.

What is everyone else's copy like. Good strong case? Color labelled disk with the censor rating on it? Help me put my mind at rest!!!

Thanks.

Found a link here that shows the type of case my Adventures of Robin Hood came in.
https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...ite-cases.html

Would you expect Warner to issue the film in this kind of case?

Very late to this party, I know, but I've just bought this title, and received it today.

There seems to be a strange error in the disc: there's no audio on the film! None at all, on any of the language tracks. The WB splash screen plays audio fine, the extras all play audio (yes, even the mono ones), but not the film.

Obviously this needs to go back to Amazon, but has anyone here heard of such a problem, especially with this title? Was there a known faulty batch of this title somewhere along the way, perhaps, that I might have ended up with a copy of?

Thanks for any info.

You maybe have a defective disc? I assume you've already played with the sound options on your system? Since it's only mono....but sounds good for all that...

I did not have this problem when I bought it but my Friend did. I remember, we both got it at the same time in September 2008 at Future Shop (it was like $12). We got back to his house and he put his copy in and no sound and mine played well. We got back to Future Shop and it was lucky they had another copy and that one played well. I remember that cause we got it at the sametime in the same store and mine was just fine.

Hi benbess,
Thanks for the reply.

In fact, I was just coming back to report that I'd sorted it out. It still seems a bit strange, but I don't think the disc is actually defective, so that's a plus.

It turns out that, although the mono extras on the disc, which are coded as Dolby Digital 1.0, will play fine on any audio setting on my system, the film itself (which is also coded as Dolby Digital 1.0) will only play audio if I set my receiver to downmix the audio to stereo - and then it plays fine. No other setting, including Dolby Digital 5.1 (which plays any other mono discs I have just fine) will work.

As I said, it seems a bit strange, and maybe it's a bung disc after all, but at least I've got a working solution.

Thanks for your thoughts, mate.

Interesting, thanks P@t. So maybe there are bodgy discs floating around.

A response to an old posting but anyway, with regards to the plastic case, the ones in North America are thinner and flimsier compared to the thicker and sturdier blu ray cases in the U.K. Also, many releases nowaways launch straight into the film and only offer a menu if you hit the pop-up menu or top menu buttons on your remote.

This will be getting an Italian release next month. Will be interesting to see how it compares.

Possibly a MPEG4-AVC encode and lossless sound from the looks of the other releases by Studio 4K.

Interesting. The old blu-ray actually isn't that bad though - despite the lossy sound-track. Hopefully *IF* this ever gets a new pressing, Warner will correct those issues (new encode plus lossless).

Unfortunately Warner is the king of re-issue without upgrading. Yet they have also done a few upgrades over the years (including films that didn't really need it) - so who knows.

Agreed. I have heard that the old release is pretty good so if I already had it I would probably not consider importing, but I have always had some excuse whenever I have come close to picking it up.

Benbess and P@t_Mtl, I want to say thanks again. I finally got round to doing something about this, by contacting Amazon to see if they had records of people reporting bodgy discs (in case it was a faulty batch). They couldn't help me with that, but they did offer to replace the disc, which I think was pretty generous of them, especially after this length of time.

The replacement they sent seems to have got lost (DHL's tracking hasn't been updated to indicate it ever left the US). Wow, talk about jinxed! Amazon sent another, it's finally arrived, and I'm very happy to report the problem doesn't show up on this copy.

Huzzah!!

Watched this on my large projection screen, with my new side masks installed, tonight. What a treat! Fun, engaging movie, with beautiful color and great detail- what a full- blown costumer!

The Studio 4K version would have been a direct port of the official Warner release. They were noted to be a bootleg company last year though, so that's probably why their output has basically stopped.

I finally ordered this! Cannot wait to revisit it. Is the quality of the BD transfer still good in 2016? 🤔

This is $7.73 on Amazon at the moment. It is currently out of stock, so you may have to wait awhile for it to ship, but it's quite a nice deal at that price.
