trouble shooting a video problem, need help!!!

well on my old samsung htib i had a lot of moments when it appeared the cable box and samsung receiver stopped shaking hands via hdmi and my screen would flicker on and off, reset momentarily or go to snow all together. i thought well this htib receiver sucks, it will go away when i get something high end. enter the pioneer elite sc 05 . . . well at first it was doing the same thing and someone said to turn the hdmi contol off on the receiver. done. no more flickering via the cable box to this point.

last night im watching a blu ray, twilight to be exact. it starts flickering and i see red snow start to take over the screen. slowly it fills the screen then goes to black and flickers back to normal. ok now this shouldnt be happening anymore right? im guessing and praying for that matter that possibly i have a bad hdmi cable? if as many people as possibly can jump on board with things they think this might be and possible solutions to the problem, id be forever grateful. thanks again for your time and support!!!
