Default Requesting some trouble shooting help?

My set-up is as follows:

Samsung TV PN50B550
Samsung BD Player - P1600
Onkyo HTS - S6100
Directv DVR

I have all the units with HDMI set-up running through the reciever for optimum use. But for some reason when I want to watch a movie, switching from DTV to BD the signal may or may not connect via the HDMI. I have tried hooking the HDMI ports in all 4 that are on the TV w/ no luck. It is currently in HDMI 1 which is labled DVD on the TV. At first I thought it was the silly anynet function that was causing the problem, but I turned all those functions off on both the BD & TV. I'm not sure what could be causing the no signal issue unless my HDMI cords I bought a year ago are fried. I can't recall if they are 1.3 or not, or could it be a firmware issue w/ the BD player. I just don't get what the "bug" may be. Sometimes it works and somwtimes it doesn't.

Can anyone offer up some suggestions so that I can enjoy the blu's and not have the blues......

What you have described sounds like a "handshaking" issue to me. I myself have experienced it only a couple times. I upgraded all of my HDMI cords to 1.3a, category 2(Monoprice). I have not experienced this issue since doing so. Im not saying that is the issue, but I am saying this is what I did to help solve my issue which sounds about the same. Im sure someone much smarter than myself will offer some better advice. Good luck.

If it only does it sometimes it sounds like a bad cable. Do you have another HDMI laying around that you could try?

Funny, I just did an install last night and the guy was complaining of a buzzing sound coming from his new LCD. He was tearing his hair out trying different connection options. Turned out to be a bad cable.

Always seems that the last thing you check is the easiest solution.

thanks dude, I orderd three of the ones you suggested so hopefully this will fix my problem. I tried another HDMI cable directly from the BD to the TV and it worked fine. I also tried two of the other HDMI ports on the reciever but for some reason they did not connect. Hopefully I don't need a new reciever. The one I have is only a year old.
