Armageddon on StarzHD

So I'm watching Armageddon on StarzHD and realized that a lot of HD movies not on blu-ray on HD cable might already be ready for blu-ray. How else would they have these on tv in HD if it already hasn't been somewhat prepared? Just curious on how these cable channels have hd movies ready.

The studios provide the channels with the broadcast versions of the movie

ya i beleive the canadian bd release of seven uses a hd broadcast master of poor quality with the wrong aspect ratio.

That mean they most likely have a version readied for blu-ray? I would think providing a broadcast version they would have a 1080p version readied also at the same time.

Not only that but for most channels except HDNet Movies, Showtime, The Movie Channel, and HDNet...the broadcast versions are modified to fill widescreen televisions.

StarzHD may get the once in a while OAR broadcast (like Wall-E) and Fox HD even aired Hollywood Homicide in its OAR but unless its the channels I iisted above, expect that you are going to get a modified aspect ratio presentation.

I was jumping for joy when Big Trouble in Little China aired on My Network TV HD, it was 2.35:1 widescreen for just the opening. After the title, the movie was 1.78:1 widescreen from then out.
