Default Seriously, where the hell is Armageddon?

Seriously, this should have been out a long time ago. I remember Bay said something about them having to re-do the negative, but come on, get it done! I sold my dvd the day I got my blu-ray player in March of 08 figuring it wouldn't be that far away...GET ON IT DISNEY!

There are many, many, many, many, many major titles awaiting release on Blu-ray. The format hasn't been out for THAT long, have some patience

You deciding to sell your DVD copy isn't Disney's fault

I'd like to know where the hell Bad Boys 2 is. Whenever I see an early Sony release with the Blu Ray trailer showing it, I'm thinking "Can't wait"

^ Yeah I'd like to get Bad Boys 2 as well, but at least that is anamorphic on dvd.

On a semi-related note, does anyone have Deep Impact on blu? How is the a/v? I read the review on here but would like more opinions. I love that movie as well, but feel Armageddon would be the bigger benefactor of HD.

Deep Impact, honestly, I prefer it over Armageddon, film-wise. But I do agree that the AV quality should be better from Armageddon. Deep Impact looks great on Blu-ray, and sounds very detailed, in my opinion - but yes, Armageddon's PQ and AQ should, I think, come out on top.

Armageddon's master burned in a fire. It'll be years before we see it. If we do. I'm sure we will, but they have to find elements to remaster it. Not for at least 3+ years.

I heard that also, but there has to be another master floating around somewhere, right? How do you know it is going to take at least 3 years?

I don't think there is, otherwise I'm sure Michael Bay would have said when he did the interview mentioning the fire.

I would also like to know this too.

Not only this but sources from avforums say that they have seen this on HDTV with perfect 1080p quality so I don't know what to believe now.

Seriously dude? You're bumping a topic like this? I want this movie too but the truth is Disney doesn't care much about this movie and we will just have to be patient while they get around to releasing this.

Armageddon is a title I've been anxiously awaiting for a long time, along with The Abyss. It wouldn't be so bad if there was at least a good anamorphic DVD available for these titles, but we don't even have that.

The Region 2 and Region 4 DVDs for Armageddon are anamorphic but do not include the gag reel due to rights issues.

It's locked in the Disney vault... oh wait that's a different kind of Disney movie.

There are a lot of these big box-office Touchstone films Disney just doesn't release; Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Dead Poets Society, Splash, The Color of Money, Dick Tracy, Sister Act, etc. But this being a movie full of special effects, does make it kinda weird that it hasn't been released.

Disney's quality with blu-ray's is much higher than most other studios, yet their quantity is lower than most other studios. Seeing as they have the Disney movies, the Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures movies, and the Miramax/Dimension (pre-2005), which means even some of the well-known ones are gonna take a few years.

Disney is the parent company of Touchstone but I thought it was still handled as a separate entity when it comes to releases? I know that is how Miramax seams to work, out side the typical Disney parameters. I could be wrong though.

Look at the news page. It's on the release list for this year in France. If they're going to get it, the U.S. most likely will too.
