Default Unofficial PS4 Concept

Obviously this is not anything official. It is just a design that someone has come up with for Sony to consider. Personally, I think it looks amazing!!!

That looks like something carved out from the year 2020. Yes, I second that the concept art looks spectacular.

That looks like crap. You could drop the unit and the controller ONCE and that thing would be shattered.

Not necessarily. I knew that this would be the first complaint regarding the design. I'm almost certain that it wouldn't be glass. It would be some type of shatter proof material. Perhaps a molecularly advanced plexiglass?

In fact, with the space age polymers that science has developed in the last 10 years, I'm certain that the hardware in this design would be able to sustain more of a beating than the PS3!

Transparent aluminum, perhaps.

You've been watching too many movies.

Plexi is strong but is unfortunately pretty easily scratched. It looks neat but I can't imagine it for a controller. Hard to get the necessary rumble and motion controls in there as well.

I did specify a space age plexiglass polymer... not your everyday garden variety plexiglass.

so long as it has a gyroscopic stabilization system and hypersonic quantum extrapolator you could put the thing in a glass of piss I'll think it's cool

I know there are things like this out there... but do you want to pay $2k for your controller?!

You don't realize that in 7 years when the system would be in production, the price on such material will have fallen drastically due to market saturation.

Plus, those wheels would need to use so much more of the polycarbonate in order to keep the wheels from collapsing. In this case, the PS4 wouldn't require any large amount as it wouldn't be in the same "under physical stress" scenario as a car wheel.

And not to mention cool car upgrades are insanely over-priced.

I just realized that that design in particular might spook me out a bit. It would almost be like having HAL 9000 staring at me whenever I'm using my home theatre!

Yea looks too flimsy, Hope they don't sacrifice quality for the design though.

I was never a big fan of these prospective concepts, because they always came across as someone with too much time on their hands, and too much fascination with futuristic looking things, trying to design some futuristic-y looking electronics.

I'm sure if we looked back at PS2 concepts, we'd see similar looking things.

Remember all the PSP2 concepts we saw, and then see what we ended up getting? I know the PSPGo isn't exactly a PSP2, but the concepts were made based on knowing Sony was putting out a new PSP.
