Talking Newest addition to my HT!

A custom made to my specs solid wood TV Stand!

It's amazing how much of a difference some nice furniture can make to a room. The TV stand I've been using for the past 5 years was originally $100 from Wal-Mart... the kind made entirely of particle board and veneer that you put together yourself. It served it's purpose, but was definitely time to move on to something better. The wife and I looked in different furniture stores for almost 6 months. We could never seem to find anything that was the right price, color, size, functionality, etc. I was tempted to go with something from BDI, Salamander, etc. but wanted something that was really unique. I ended up taking the best ideas from all the furniture I had seen and combined it into exactly what I wanted. Then I hired a local wood-worker (with some excellent references) to build it for me. It came out great, and was pretty easy on the wallet too.

This is how it looked right after I brought it home:

Still had some sawdust in the drawers and was covered in fingerprints. So I gave it a good wipe down with some wood cleaner, and decided to take some more pictures.

Built in brackets to hold Cooler Guys ventilation fans:

Back of the unit:

And what's this? Rear doors for easy cable access!

Ventilation holes in all the shelves and bottom:

Cooler Guys fans installed:

All put togther and loaded up with some gear:

SketchUp was a huge help when designing this piece. I've got a full 3d rendering if anyone is interested...

VERY NICE!!!!! I love real wood furniture as well. Most of my furniture at home is all real wood. Maybe you could lightly tint those glasses to give you a nice touch and add some light with a timer if possible like I did to mine.

It looks very good! How much does it cost to get something like this built? BTW, I agree with BLURAYSONYES that a little tint to the glass would make it look even better.

Awesome Stand.I Love the Custom touches.

The cut outs for the cooling fans and having the back panels open is a Great Idea and Will Make a Huge Difference in both Performance and Cable Management.
So will having the ventilation holes in the shelves.

That stand is a Home Theater Dream.Just Amazing with ALL the Extras you Added.

Your new stand looks pretty nice!

I never thought of hiring a wood worker to do the job... Perhaps I should start looking!
