Default What was the best addition to your HT in 2009?

I think the title says it all. With the year winding down, I'd like to know from everyone what addition to your HT had the largest, most positive impact on either your PQ or AQ in 2009. This is not to be defined by money spent, but in terms of how significant of an improvement the new addition contributed for either your PQ or AQ.

IMO, my Pioneer Elite SC-05 had the biggest impact on my HT this year. I used to have the Onkyo 605, but the Elite gave me additional power, a more dynamic sound, pre-outs and the ability to do a ton of tweaking to satisfy my needs. I did have a lot of new additions this past year, but I think everything else in my audio feeds off of my SC-05. I did add a projector too, but I simply don't use that enough to justify that as having the largest impact for my HT.

How about you guys?

I finally got a subwoofer, lol, been running 7.0 for the longest time, got my PSW110 from Best Buy when they had it for $125. I am now running 7.1 and it is a huge difference, taking that weight off of my tower speakers!

I would also have to say the SC-05. I have a Elite 92TXH that I still use, but love the ICE amp in the SC-05. I also added a couple of the APC H15 power conditioners when they were on sale earlier this year for $99 ea, but I would be lying if I said it had an impact other than peace of mind. Looks nice though

The 2010 wish list includes: 1) new Berkline seating, and 2) new sub

This year has been all about finishing up the home theater room. It's not quite done yet, but it's getting there. My best additions this year were Berkline theater seats and a wall entertainment center that is currently being painted before installation.

I'm hoping to have it all completed by Christmas.

New speakers all around, followed by the amp. I just got an Emotiva gift card, so I have a pretty good idea what one if my favorites of 2010 will be!

The best addition in 2009 was me actually getting the basement built, wired and finished. I remember when my carpet was installed. Then components, speakers, blinds, curtains....it's all coming together in 2009. That plus the media cabinet I built.

It's all coming together, next year will be a new TV / Projector setup with a new AVR.

I thought the first post would be the obvious PJ and Big Screen. That is by far the biggest, most impactful addition to my HT. Seriously, if you have a choice and are serious about an HT, the PJ and screen should be at the top of the list.

My front left and right or the sub. I love the F15 from Rythmik, such a good sub. I think the speakers are gonna take the crown tho, can't beat something that contains your sweat and hard work.

In the same process slowly but surely coming along
Best addition for me would have to be a combination of my sc-07 and Def Tech STS speaker package

I installed a sub equalizer about two weeks ago. The one from SVS. This addition had far more impact than adding the second sub did a year ago. LFE finally feels like it belongs with the rest of the audio track. If you have difficulty level matching your sub due to peaks and valleys at your primary listening position, you should definitely consider this. I never really understood what "bloated" bass was, but I think it is what I had before the EQ.

2 days away from getting the HT insulated....... So I'll wait to answer until that happens.....because I bet that's gonna be the big winner for me!!!!!!!! (not necessarily for PQ/AQ though.... but I digress)

Added an Emotiva XPA-3 to go with my XPA-5! Other than that, I've been focused on adding some additional and rather large collectibles to my H.R. Giger/other movie collection. [1. Sideshow Collectibles: SPECIES 'Sil, ALIEN Queen, GIGER'S ALIEN Miniature Bust autographed by H.R. Giger (which I purchased for 1/2 the price on Ebay today) and ALIEN Executive Officer Kane;
2. Hollywood Collectibles: ALIEN Space Jockey and the ALIEN 1:1 Lifesize Bust and Lifesize ALIENS Chestburster (both of which I'm waiting to receive) and 3. Attakus America ALIENS/.ALIEN Warrior Statue.] i also have coming a Toynami TERMINATOR 2 T-800 Half Scale Endoskull Bust and a Sideshow JAWS Maquette. These will enhance, I think, all of my original movie posters and numbered/signed lithographs from the above-mentioned films for my home theater (which is still a work in progress)!

The only thing I added was an Oppo DV-981H. I use it for all of my DVD playback to take the load of my PS3.

Truth be told however, I actually downsized my HT. Sold my Totem Mite-T centre channel and Totem Mite surrounds. Went back to a 2CH setup and want to bring that to top form before I continue with the HT part of my gear.

John

PS~ Great thread btw Fors!
