If by issues do you mean will it damage your equipment...not at all, but you wont have a consistent sound coming through all of your speakers. They cambridge and def tech's just plainly sound different, it may sound odd at times. Its called timbre matching...in which you match the sound of your speakers to one another, which these will not. If you plan on switching out your other speakers for def techs then that would work just fine. If not, I would upgrade to another cambridge center channel

thanks for the info. i have an upgraded center MC500 now, but i have not hooked it up yet due to it being so large (9"H x 26"W x 10"D). it infears with the viewing of my plasma. the plasma only sits about 6" high off the top of my stand, so the speaker goes higher than that.

i thought about getting someting to raise up the tv 3 inches, but have had no luck. i figure i would buy a slimmer better center channel. so you think they wont match up well?

I wouldnt necessarily say that its a better center channel either. They are both good, but I would stick with the Cambridge if you can find a way to raise the TV a couple of inches. It may not look pretty but just stack a few pieces of wood underneath it.

Why not make A stand for the display out of wood . You can paint it or cover it with something .

Timbre matching is vary important if you want the front sound stage to sound right !

ya i hear ya. not sure now what i want to do. dont want to make it look bad either. i am all about being uniform as well. i am starting to think having this huge center channel may not look good. it is a huge center the mc500 speaker.

what if i buy the def tec center with a pair of def tec BP7006 towers for the front 3 and still use my cambridge surrounds? would this work or still be a problem?

You can definitely do that, I didnt know replacing everything was an option. If that is the case make sure you go out and audition a few speakers that meet your needs and see what you like the most. Don't just settle on the first thing you hear/see. How tall can that center speaker be? I will do some research and see what fits...then you can go out and listen to some stuff. Also what would your budget be?

Those speakers would work great. Martin Logan has two versions of their speakers. Their ESL line and their Design series. Their ESL line is very pricy, and the Design series is more budget minded. The Preface, which is what you are looking at, are the only ones that I actually like from the Design series. They are a fantastic speaker. And their sale price is awesome!! But once again, I believe they have a pretty tall center channel

As long as your 3 front speakers match you are OK . It does not matter what your surrounds are .

I have 3 identical tower speakers for my fronts & the front sound stage sounds great . My surrounds are A different brand of towers . So the front 3 are the most important .

y ai have been online for hours looking at centers, now i say these martin logans at BB onsale for $499, see above post for link. figure i could match that up with on of its centers?? looking to be about 6 inches tall max, but could always move my center to the next shelf down, but would have to move some componets around.

They have a new center channel called the Encore which would be about 6.5" tall

It will work just fine, unless you want an excuse to upgrade. I would be more than willing to give you an excuse to do so.

hahah, just got my pioneer elite, havent even hooked it up yet. still using my onkyo 606. but my pioneer says it is 8ohm, see below.

Amplifier Design Discrete (A.D. Energy)
Surround Power 110W x 7 (20Hz - 20kHz, .09% THD @ 8 ohms, All Channels Driven)
Stereo Power 110W x 2 (20Hz - 20kHz, .09% THD @ 8 ohms)

the martin logans say 4 ohms????
