Okay I needed to know the answer to this but wasn't sure exactly how to ask it via google for search results, so I thought I would try to explain myself here.
I have my internet through Comcast set up via Wireless, so while my laptop is plugged in via ethernet, my PS3 is hooked up via the wireless connection. My buddy just moved into a new room upstairs and to the left of me. Now he's in a back room (the front room closer to me is the kitchen area) and he can't get my signal anymore. Is there a way for me to go into my wireless settings (router) to expand my wireless signal to a wider area? For some reason I was thinking that I could expand or shrink the area that my wireless would reach. Much thanks for the help! |

Depends on the router you have...With some aftermarket firmware you can flash tomato or DDWRT and might be able to get alittle more power out of the router. If not you can buy a repeater to increase the range of your wireless network....

Test if you can screw off the antenna of your router, if you can then you can try this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-063-_-Product Also are you paying monthly to rent that router? You need to just buy one for yourself; it will save you money in the long run. |

I have a wireless home network consisting of one laptop, one desktop (Both Macs) and the PS3. The PS3 is showing 100% signal, however, downloads are slow as molasses. Apple Airport which I use as a router is in the same room. Would there be any benefit to hooking up a wireless adapter in my case? My DSL is close to the 6megs top speed guarenteed by ATT however the PS3 is only showing anywhere from 2.5 to 3.25 top down speed.

6 megabits = .75 megabytes so you're actually getting more than what you're paying for. |
