Default PS3 turns on after shut down after setting up PSP remote play??

I set up my PSP and PS3 for Remote play this morning. Every time i turn off the PS3 either by using the PSP or the PS3 itself, the PS3 will automatically turn back on and the "Connect PSP using Remote Play" screen appears. The screen does say that if the PSP is not connected the system will shut down.

Is this supposed to happen? Is this required for the remote play turn on feature to work? Thanks in advance for your wisdom...

From what I understand If you have remote start turned on, the PS3 looks for an incoming signal sent by your PSP. Some, not all routers transmit an unrelated signal(s) that the PS3 sees as the PSP trying to connect.

Until Sony perhaps improve the remote start detection so the PS3 filters out signals that aren't a command to start up, you either need to turn off remote start or swap router for one that doesn't sent confusing signals, or update your routers firmware.

It never happened to me, yet. but I do have problems getting the PSP to connect to the PS3, so I just disabled it. until Sony improves the Remote Play, it is kind of useless.

Ah I had this exact problem. Do you know if you have DMZ turned on in your router settings? There is an extensive thread on this in the Playstation forums and after reading through I found that DMZ is the culprit. Turn off DMZ and it should work flawlessly.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I played with it a little more and if i leave the PS3 on and let it power down on its onw like the screen says it will then it stays off.

I also tried turning off the remote power on feature and the system stayed off also. So for now in order for me to use remote power on while i travel i will need to let it shut down in its own after turning on the feature.

Can you explain the DMZ part. I am not that familiar with Networking and routers...I am using a wireless modem/router that i got from ATT when i signed up for DSL.

Usually with routers you can access your router configuration by opening up internet explorer or whatever you use and typing "192.168.1.1" where you would normally type in a web address. If you can reach that settings page you can alter your settings and check if DMZ is turned off. However if you have never touched your router settings DMZ should be off by default.

This has already been addressed. I think there is another post somewhere on this.
Sorry I can't be more help since I don't have a PSP yet, but I plan to get one later this year.

Did you leave the T-3 BD in? Perhaps the PS3 has become self aware.

has happened to me a couple of times. it is due to your router. there is a whole blurb about this in the online ps3 instruction manual that you can access from the xmb. i have a linksys router. not sure what other brands are affected by this issue though

I have a Thompson 780 router. I have read the manual but did not find a awnser to my problem.
I tried with upnp on and off. I forwarded the remoteplay port number still the same problem. i even had my ps3 conected directly to my modem. But it still pops on everytime is select remote start via the internet.
