Default Solaris in Blu-ray

I have just seen 2001 and The fountain in bluray. Both are great, although not the best one in video quality (i think 2001 is better than fountain, considering the time it was filmed)

but to continue in this kind of movies, i would like to know if anyone like SOLARIS, and if this movie would eventually come to life as a BD

cheers

Oscar

This would most likely be in Ruscico's department, or Criterion, or both. But neither company has yet announced blu-ray titles.

I would buy the original Russian Solaris on Blu-ray, but I did not like the American remake.

Default I bet!

Seeing how you mentioned 2001 and The Fountain I bet you are referring to the Solaris version starring George Clooney? Do you even know that that film was a remake? Technically the one with George is close to perfect but I liked the original version better. I will pick it up once it becomes available. Again, Hollywood remaking a film is rarely as good as the original.

You're referring to the original Russian production?

I would like to see both available in BD.

Both would be best.

And whilst I usually prefer originals, I actually prefer the remake over the original of Solaris (?!)

Yes sacrilege I know but thats how I roll with this one. (another exception is Dawn of the Dead where I prefer the remake also, but thats another story)

In the top five most boring ever for me (if you mean the Clooney one-- never saw original). Sorry. Wouldn't take a BR of this if it was free...

I guess I'm in the minority with this opinion, but I really liked this movie. I thought it was very intriguing and visually satisfying. I for one would pick this up if it was released on Blu-ray.

I love Sci fi, but Solaris will put you to sleep. However, to each his own. I am for everything getting a blu-ray release.

Tarkovsky's Solaris would be an amazing addition to the Blu-ray family of films. Hopefully Artificial Eye, MK2, or Criterion will announce this in the near future. Simply amazing film which will undoubtedly look fantastic if released by any of those three companies.

I actually liked both versions. The American version was more a second adaption of the book than a remake of Tarkovsky's version. I would probably be more inclined to pick up the American version on Blu - I thought the visuals were really well done.

saw the recent version and hated it, but I was a lot younger when it come out, I'd give it another chance, especially on blu.

Solaris is a terrible movie, It bored me to tears, I attempted to finish the movie about 10 times and kept falling asleep, I finally finished it and will never watch it again.

Both versions of Solaris are some of my personal favorites. I'm desperate to have the Soderbergh version on Blu-ray.

Saw George Clooney interviewed on TV defending this film after it didn't do so well at the box office. Thought if he was that proud of the film it must be worth watching.

I lost count of the amount of times I fell asleep watching this film - very slow + white noise = snoozefest. Worst thing was not remembering what part of the film I had watched up to, so just started watching again from the last thing I did remember, only to realise I'd seen more after I'd been watching for 15 mins or so.

Watched it to the end (Do I get a prize?) thinking it must get better. It doesn't - if it comes to Blu I think I'll pass.

Amazon.com just recently posted sign up pages for both renditions of Solaris. If interested, make your name count.
