Default Stuck/dead pixel on new plasma?

I just set up my new Pioneer PRO1150HD plasma and noticed a red pixel in the upper left part of the screen. Can this be fixed or do I need to return it?

I had an entire line go out on my LCD...I bought Circuit City's protection plan and they are now replacing the WHOLE SCREEN. Who knows how this will work out but we'll see...

Ive seen online programs or maybe its a disk that you run that apparently can fix stuck pixels on LCD's, but not so sure about Plasma's. May wanna try to search for it. Sorry, dont really have any info on it, but my buddy sent a link to me about it a while back..

If the store you bought from would replace it then why not. However, be aware that if you see another stuck pixel after your 30-day (or however long) return period and it's not visible from normal viewing distance, Pioneer will not do anything about it.

This is exactly the reason why I haven't looked closely at my Kuro. If I'd see one stuck/dead pixel it would bug me even if it wasn't visible from my viewing distance.

usually display makers allow for some defective pixels on their screens before they will accept an exchange. I don't know about Pioneer's policy but usually LCDs and DLP displays allow for a number of pixels to be defective unless they are clustered together an make an obvious defect.

please see the apprprppriate kuro owners forum at AVS- there you'll read how running a film like The Incredibles (no black bars) can sometimes "unstick" your red sub-pixel.

if i cant see a stuck sub pixel from my normal viewing distance, i wouldnt worry about

thats true

sometimes it pays to purchase from a dealer with a good return policy {even if it costs more than the box movers]

i have a 1080p kuro - up close its very hard for me to make out the actual R, G,B sub-pixels - wonderful fill factor

if one was stuck I honestly dont know how its possible to see it from a normal viewing distance-unless u want to be watching stagnant test patterns

the fact that we lurk on this forum probably suggests we're obsessed fanatics though

I ended up exchanging the set for a new one and now this one has a stuck green pixel. I was not looking for it, but I happened to be close to the screen when it was mostly white and there it was. I unplugged the set for the night and when I turned it on this morning, it was gone. Does anyone know why this is or if it will just come back?

If its gone that's a good thing .
Make sure you break-in screen and it shouldn't be a problem in the future.

The same pixel is back . Apparently, it was only gone temporarily when I unplugged the TV. I am going to exchange it. I'm not sure, but I think it appeared after I ran the break-in disk overnight. It definately was not there initially, so it either came from regular TV watching or the break-in disc. I am now officially done with the break-in disc. I love my Elite Kuro too much to put her through that again .

Get yourself a Sony Bravia and be done with it.

Dead pixels would drive me nuts.

If I could see the stuck/dead pixels at my viewing distance then it would bother me and I'd ask for a replacement, otherwise it's a non-issue.

BTW, swapping an Elite for a Bravia?

No offence but this is his second kuro with pixel issue so can we agree that pio isn't perfect?
Panny , samsungs and Sonys are just as good costing thousands less with better factory warrantys on some models with picture that is equal to kuro.
Do a little comparing on black levers and picture clarity between the samsung 5084 ,You will see they both produce a perfect picture with black levels close to the same .
I bought the sammy getting same picture quality ,Screen burn protection , 2 year factory warranty and saved 2 grand hmm I must not be smart

As an aside, how many of us in the flat panel age watch out TVs and immediately we spot a persistent pixel on our panels suddenly start to perspire. The perspiration lasts till a new scene indicates that with was a dead CCD element on the camera that shot the show.

What are you talking about? Nobody claimed that the Pioneer is perfect. Why do you feel the need to ask me that question?

Now for picture quality, if you truly believe other makes/models are just as good as Pioneer, good for you. That's your opinion, no need to make sarcastic remarks. But I can't agree with you there. If you haven't seen this article, go ahead and read it. These unbiased experts chose the 720p non-Elite version of the OP's tv as the winner.

Your post below to kingofgrills suggestion on the Sony swap has a cute eye roll smiley so I thought it was fare to let you know that your Kuro isn't king of plasma

Spoken like a true kuro owner, your siggy says it all
Its to bad the winner is now owned by panny because it was going bankrupt .Believe it or not reviews are a dime a dozen and I'm sure I could dig up a google that disagrees with your link but it's really not Worth my time

Moving onto Positive vibe.
Since we are a part of the Plasma TV owner dieing breed lets shake hands calling it even
