PS3 Blu-ray remote problem?? - Blu-ray Forum

My blu ray remote will not stay synched. Just started happening last night.
I had to reregister the remote, I can turn it off, turn it on, then it gets stuck from there and I have to reregister it again. Tried it several times, changed the battery, switched the whole thing off, and even used my other remote from my 40g. the preoblem isn't any of the remotes,it just doesn't stay synched on my 60.

anyone with thisproblem or any other ideas??

Sorry, I got my remote the same day I got my PS3 (over a year ago) and have never had a single problem (other than having to change the batteries). Hopefully if there is a fault it's with your remote and not your PS3!

I have not had any problems with my remote and 60GB PS3, but it sounds like it is an issue with the PS3. Your best bet is to contact sony tech support. Be sure to let them know it is happening with both remotes. Do and they both work fine with the 40GB?

I had the same problem on my 60GB and I found a solution. You need to format the PS3 harddrive, to get the BD remote working again.

Apparently there is some data on the hard drive that is causing the problem, because when I did a backup of the entire hard drive and reapplied it to a blank one the problem returned.

If you need to backup your data like game saves, do them individually and not all at once with backup utility.

I don't get it?!?!?! I'd love to know what people do with there PS3s. Do the go swimming with it? I've never had one single problem.

Just had to ask, but you DID change out the batteries with fresh new ones? Sometimes the simplest things will cause tons of headaches

Because the remote will not respond after a certain sequence of events(the console is turned off and then on again), it is not due to battery level or the remote itself. The problem is with the PS3 itself. I nearly sent in my PS3 for repairs for this problem, until I tried reformatting the hard drive and got it working again.
