is it true that PS3 can only play Blu-ray movies on 1080P T.Vs and that u need HDCP. Because i have a HDTV that only has 480i, 480P, 720P, and 1080i.
And can u use component cables



in the Quick Reference book that came with the PS3 it says copyright-protected blu-ray video discs can only be output at 1080P using an HDMI. (pg 7) what does that mean?

No.

You can play the PS3 on any HDTV. You should have no problems.

To get the maximum quality playing HDTV videogames and movies you need a display that has HDMI with HDCP and accepts 1080P input. You can use a Playstation 3 with any standard 480I NTSC display or HDTV TV. In the future if you use only the component inputs some BLU-RAY movies can turn on a feature that down converts the movie to a quality that is slightly better then 480P quality. So far no movies on BLU-RAY have the feature where you lose resolution if you are not using HDMI.
As long as your HDTV has HDCP with either DVI or HDMI this will never be a issue. Now if your HDTV only has component inputs possible some time in the future some movies will be lower quality.

You'll get 1080i Blu-ray movie content with that TV. You should have no problem with the games as your set supports 720p. get the PS3 Component cables though if your TV doesn't have an HDMI/DVI input.
