Without fail every bluray I watch loses sync for about 2 seconds, It only happens once every movie, and always toward the start of the movie.then plays fine the rest of the movie. My ps3 runs hdmi in to sony-monintor out to projector. I have tried bypassing sony preamp, switching hdmi cables, no luck still. Help????

Your player might need to be cleaned, or your discs. |

If it happens near the start of every movie it might mean that some of your equipment is temperature sensitive before the gear has had time to warm up. Are you double sure it's not related to a faulty HDMI problem somewhere? How long is your HDMI run? If it's a repeating problem there is probably a solution to the problem but pinpointing the problem could be tricky. Try your PS3 in another setup like at a friend's and see if the problem disappears. Rule out as many components as possible.

Yes, I have swapped the hmi cables I use from the different components(HD SAT and PS3). Both are Audioquest 2meter cables. The monitor out hdmi cable to my projector has never been swapped, but I lose audio and video when the problem happens so i figured I could rule that one out. I guess it also could be my sony preamp, so I will see if I can get a buddy to bring his ps3 over to my theatre, that should let me know which one it is. I find it strange that it only happens once per movie, so maybe it is a temperature problem?

If I were you, I would try the ps3 directly to the projector with a short HDMI cable to rule out the possibility that it's the monitor cable. (even if it mean holding the ps3 above your head :P)

But I'm not sure when one of the components fails if the other also fails. It's really strange that it fails at the beginning of the movie but afterwards it's fine. Like Clark Kent said, you have to rule out all possibilities. Last edited by Johk; 07-21-2008 at 04:40 PM. |

yes I had the same problem with my old 47" 1080p westinghouse get it 3 years ago. the problem is with the HDMI-HDCP copy protection. the tv/projector is not syncing up as good as the PS3 would like so it resends the HDCP code to get a better sync. my new 46" samsung LN46A650 is much better very rarely dos it happen. more like a 1-5ms or so now. not like befor with a 1-2sec pause. I am using the same HDMI cables from my old HDTV with my new HDTV. monster 1000HD cables so the cables cant be the problem. how old is the projector? try the PS3 on a friends newer HDTV see if it helps. good luck
